Lately I have been very disappointed with Rachel..
Started with her continuos style of laughing and acting as though all the shit we"re going through
is just a ton of fun.
But more importantly she seems to not tear into the obvious..Seems like she holds back now, in order not to piss the big wigs off. I feel her initial response to Bills speech was awful
Can anyone help me be more specific..
I realize MSNBC has turned into crap.
But Im more interested In Lawrence and Rachel..and your opinions..
Post Script.......The responses have been enlightening....

(7,888 posts)I lost respect for Ms. Maddow when she become a political hack early in the primaries by advising that Sanders supporters' should back Mrs. Clinton. You are not longer a journalist when you use you position to promote your own political agenda, imo.
I watch Lawrence, Kate Snow, Joy Reid, and the best of all, Tamron Hall. I would rather hear Brian Williams wordy, pontificating than the superior attitudes of pundit certainty exhibited by Tweety and Maddow.

(1,356 posts)who noticed her anti Bernie bias. Thanks.

(9,359 posts)Keith was a journalist. Tweety is more of a journalist than Rachel could ever be, and I can't stand him, but at least he asks tough questions, in spite of letting pols weasel word their way out.
Rachel just points to the obvious and then attempts to say something funny or sarcastic. It's the ignorant person's form of wit.

(34,661 posts)All one has to understand is,this is a Comcast owned Media outfit. If one looks at the principle owners of Comcast, you will see names of some extreme Right Wing supporters. This trying to look Liberal was a charade from the get go.
Maddow likes the pay and she and her agent are in this for the money.

(6,457 posts)Does a lot of silly laughing and demeaning comments about Democrats. I really admired her for a long time, now I will never watch her again or anyone else on MSNBC

(28,275 posts)It was as if she'd watched a different speech than I did. Way, way off the mark.

(46,179 posts)I don't even know who Lawrence is. I've assiduously avoided political radio and tv talk.
I've always been uneasy with the leaning, the shaping, of public perception by talking heads, no matter what "side" they are supposedly on.

(9,350 posts)I am interested to know where you go for news. Do you just read newspapers? Do you watch the evening news?

(46,179 posts)I quit watching tv news in January of 2001.
I read news in paper, but mostly online, since I can access so many different sources. I always want multiple, diverse sources.
Edited to add: I generally just want news, not spin, and no editorializing.

(3,491 posts)Tweety is the world's worst interrupter. If you're going to ask the question, give them time to answer it.

(31,241 posts)shouldn't have to elbow her way into the conversation by a bunch of men who think theirs are the only valid opinions. I'd much rather have Joy on with Brian Williams, at least then she'd be able to get a word in.

(13,776 posts)... was that the reason I had a headache was how everybody on MSNBC was talking, very loudly, over each other--because they had to, because of the way Chris Matthews kept on flapping his gums. When I switched to CNN people took turns and didn't have to yell.
I like him (he's amusing), but sheesh, of all the people who shouldn't be allowed to interview anybody! He should have a show where he just sits there alone and tells us what he thinks, since that's basically what happens anyway.

(10,857 posts)Many of you read the news as well as watch it on television. Does television news provide you with substantive information, compared to or in addition to what you read? Or is it purely for your entertainment?
Not a leading question, I swear. I've always been a "gopher" who sifts Internet reporting daily, so television news rarely offers me anything I haven't already seen, in a format that is difficult to return to when I need it. But it takes time that many of you don't have, so I'm not criticizing your choices. I'd just like to hear how you get your news and what it means to you. Thanks in advance.

(4,033 posts)and went to CNN the "reporters" on MSNBC just talked over the delegates. I always enjoyed this part of the convention, hearing what the delegates said about their states, lots of times it's funny and very often interesting.
I really enjoyed the New Mexico delegates taking pride in "Breaking Bad". To hear both Puerto Rico and Washington DC stating they would be the 51st State makes me wonder if either ever will.
Posted this earlier, my mom's comments on MSNBC:
My 86 year old mother wants to know what the "f" is wrong with Reporters & MSNBC........
not one reporter commented on Trump calling President Obama "ignorant & the worse President" ever. Not one reporter called him out for his disrespect. To allow this is ridiculous.
Okay right now MSNBC is doing a review, but that's not enough, it has to be done during the "press conference".
To tell a reporter to be quiet, is wrong, the press corps needs to walk out, allowing Trump to say whatever he wants is not reporting. A review is good, but have the facts & correct Trump at the time of the conference.
According to mom, this crap does not belong on MSNBC, mom wants to know what MS means, she thinks it's "more shit".
The above is from mom, and mom cried when he called President Obama ignorant. My 86 year old mom is a white woman who is fed up. She looks at Trump & says she doesn't want to live through the '40's again.
