The American Solidarity Party

Last edited Wed Aug 3, 2016, 06:33 AM - Edit history (1)

Probably old news to many here. I get notices of meeting in my region. The American Solidarity Party came up for a meeting in the Houston area. Here's what this local arm of this national party has to say.
Disclaimer: This is in no way an endorsement of the ASP. I am a Democrat and that's who I vote for. It is interesting that J.M. a Latino man is a disenchanted Republican.

Hi, I'm J.M. and I'm from Cypress. I'm coming in as a dis-affected Republican. I'm sure I'm not alone, and I'm sure there are others from the other side of the aisle

We'll be discussing getting our Presidential ticket on the write-in ballot, and possibly getting anyone else on a local race. Mostly, we need to get to know each other and set goals for the next couple of years.

"the ASP holds to socially conservative views such as adhering to a pro-life position with regard to abortion, capital punishment and euthanasia, as well as opposition to same-sex marriage and opposition to pornography."

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Solidarity_Party

The first thing listed in their platform is "right to life".

They're also very pro-religion. From their website:

"We advocate for laws that allow people of all faiths to practice their religion without intimidation and deplore aggressive secularism that seeks to remove religion from the public sphere."

Aggressive secularism. Interesting. So, not big on the separation of church and state, it would appear.
