It could be a benefit or a disaster? I, for one, would want Trump finish out the race!

(26,289 posts)I've looked and looked and can only find the provisions that say how they can choose a new candidate, should the current one drop out of the race. And I seriously doubt he will ever even consider doing that.

(26,289 posts)I don't think there is any amount of money they could offer, that would "trump" that ego.
Once this whole debacle is over, he is ruined. Way too many skeletons have been high-kicking out of the closet for him to ever recover in the business world. The Emperor has been exposed in all of his nakedness. Sorry for any unintentional mind worm that sentence might incite.

(61,698 posts)He knows he won't win. Might as well get paid to leave. But it'll be a hard sell by his his kids.

(26,289 posts)But he may have convinced himself that he is worth 10 billion so 100 million isn't enough of an incentive. I don't know that the GOP has enough funds to pay Trump what he THINKS he is worth, and at this point it doesn't look like there are many, if any, people lining up to pitch in. And taking that money would confirm what we all know to be true about him.
No matter what, this is the end of the Trump "dynasty". If he should win (unlikely), I have no doubt he won't last a year. If he tries contesting a loss, well we all pretty much know he doesn't have the finances to fund an appeal and who in the world would loan him the money for a protracted fight.

(7,299 posts)The man's whole psychology is built on winning. It's not just a coincidence that he balks at the debates. A one on one against Hillary on policy. It's not just a coincidence that he claims the election will be rigged just one week after the conventions ended. In his gut this guy knows he's going to lose on the biggest stage in the world. He can't let that happen. That's anathema to the man's self identity.

(40,416 posts)There doesn't seem to be a mechanism by which a nominee can be replaced for utter incompetence.
Out of 17 possible candidates, the GOP selected this one. They made their bed...
There will be no replacement because there is no mechanism for such a thing.
The GOP is screwn!
