Jaws Drop As Poll Reveals Donald Trump Is Losing To Hillary Clinton In The South

http://www.politicususa.com/2016/08/05/jaws-drop-poll-reveals-donald-trump-losing-hillary-clinton-south.html

Donald Trump is going where no Republican has gone for 20 years. He is losing the South to Hillary Clinton....

The numbers showing Hillary Clinton doing well in the South are surprising until one considers the fact that Clinton is leading in Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida. If she wins these states on Election Day, the former Sec. of State will split the South and break the decades old GOP stranglehold on the region.

The polls suggest that what is happening is more than post-convention bounce for Clinton. The broader electorate is beginning to tune in, just when Trump has self-destructed.

Democrats shouldn’t be planning any victory parties. In fact, these numbers should motivate Democrats to work twice as hard. The prize is out there for the taking, and in the worst case scenario, Donald Trump could lose the South.

Actually, the only real surprise there is GA. VA has been trending Blue of late, FL is a classic swing state, and NC has become more purplish in recent years.

Has SC at less than a 3 point lead for Trump. In the last 14 elections SC has only voted Dem twice, the last time for neighbor Jimmy Carter (although Carter lost SC in 1980).

2008:

Obama won Virginia 52% to 46%

Obama won North Carolina 50% to 49%

Obama won Florida 51% to 48%

Obama lost Georgia 47% to 52%

2012:

Obama won Virginia 51% to 47%

Obama lost North Carolina 48% to 50%

Obama won Florida 50% to 49%

Obama lost Georgia 45% to 53%

I think Hillary has a great chance of winning VA, FL, and NC. And a decent chance of winning GA.

It's going to take a lotta lotta work to win Georgia. Clinton will need huge Dem turnout in non-suburban Atlanta (mainly Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton counties), as well as Athens, Savannah, and the scattered "blue dots" around the state. There is a lot of work to be done registering likely Democratic voters, and of course overcoming the standard vote suppression tactics and the potential problems with electronic voting machines (/tinfoilhat). AND we're going to need a lot of the suburban "Security Moms" and a good chunk of the few moderate Republicans left in this state to cast a vote for sanity this time around.

Don't forget, a somewhat facetious overview of large-ish cities in the U.S. rated Atlanta America's most redneck city. (But Atlanta is also regarded as a "Black Mecca.&quot The problem is the rest of the state.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but I'm saying we should certainly not count Georgia in the Win column just yet.

By the way, last time I checked, it's still August.

* Disclaimer: I don't actually have a neighbor with a Confederate flag any more -- fortunately those assholes moved out of the neighborhood a few years back.

Hillary's within a hair of taking the lead in Arizona, and Arizona hasn't gone blue in a VERY long time. She's actually closer to flipping Arizona than Georgia. Flipping either one would be AMAZING.

I want Drumpf sent home with his ass kicked up between his shoulder blades. I want to see him go down harder than any candidate in modern history. I want his to be a HISTORIC ass-kicking. The kind that would be so embarrassing that it would ruin his businesses and keep him out of the public eye for the rest of his life.

there are Trump signs (no Hillary signs), but easily 1/3 the number of signs that there were for Romney/Ryan four years ago.
