Even that quote-- 'life is sacred', is wholly taken out of context. It's actually part of an accounting of the command that had been given to the Jews, and doesn't apply to Muslims whatsoever. The following passages not only mandate killing people who 'cause mischief in the land', they flatly state that the lives of non-believers are not equal to those of Muslims. In the Hadith, Mohammed said no Muslim should be punished for killing a non-believer.

So if your only moral guide is the Quran and Hadith, there is no way you could come away with the notion that 'all life is sacred'.
