but I totally believe that he means what he says when he calls Mr Assange his 'brother'.

He didn't 'face off' with the interviewee, he just asked the questions his audience would expect him to ask, providing Assange with the opportunity to react and make some excellent points.

WikiLeaks is a clearing house of information. They rely on hackers and whistle blowers to give them information. They then leak that information while protecting the source from retaliation.

They are like a middle man between a leaker and the general media.

Although it may be clear Assange clearly has an agenda against Hillary, he's not a hacker himself. He can't go hack into the RNC.

He can be an idiot and an ass, certainly, and when he gets on the topic of science and medicine some of the stuff he spouts is cringe-worthy at best; still, he's oftentimes spot on.

and when Assange asked if he was going to donate $1 mil to Hillary, he said "Fuck no....I can't donate a million dollars every presidential election". Maher also cut Assange down by stating that that donation was made quite publically and did not require the wiki hackers or connections to uncover this.
