If Trump regains his footing and stops doing stupid shit the race could get close again.
But think about that. Some American voters disregard all the insane crap Trump has said and done, and a mere few months later decide he is okay after all.
That is some short term memory loss.

(5,737 posts)Trump is securing up his base with the cray shit right now, and after Labor Day, he will start on a more consistent level message.

(65,616 posts)He even told GOP leaders to go pound sand in private meetings. He proves to be not at all wise to the ways of D.C.
is more about voters than Trump.

(65,616 posts)Never will be.
EDIT - I mean YES of COURSE the media will keep this a horse race...they have paychecks to make. However, reality is he won't have the numbers even by November, his base is actually shrinking now.

(33,590 posts)I am just amazed he could get over 40%.
Rex
(65,616 posts)I am still bumfuzzled on how he actually beat out 17 other real life career politicians. I mean, I am glad since I think he was the worst person the GOP base could have picked, but to see so many of them polling for him.

(28,749 posts)I have a canvass shift this, and every Tuesday through the election.
We need people to do the work if we want to win.

(33,590 posts)I agree we have to work and cannot take this election for granted.
at the same time I can discuss the whims of the electorate without recriminations.

(9,263 posts)Trump can't stop being who he is...so he won't change minority minds....women's minds..educated minds...but we must all act that every vote counts so democrats take back congress

(30,058 posts)We can't depend on Trump to turn off most of the Republicans, they only care about the R behind his name, he doesn't need to be qualified or fit to hold the office. This makes Democrats have to vote and encourage other Hillary voters to vote.
edhopper
(33,590 posts)but true.

(7,596 posts)He's a moron and has zero self-control. Bush was a dolt but at least he knew how to follow orders. This asshole doesn't even make a good puppet. Expect to see a lot more of his advisors quit over the next three months when it becomes apparent that they're only wasting their goddamn time.

(2,792 posts)These are questions that go well beyond his public statements. The Obama/Clinton/Kaine team knows how to win elections. Trump is a rank amateur and doesn't read, listen to others, reflect, think, or believe in science. He has no capacity to get the hard work of campaigning done. In fact, he has no work ethic at all. His ship of fools will vote for him, no matter what. Their so-called "minds" are made up. Other people have a tad more common sense.

Johnny2X2X
(19,069 posts)Trump cannot win this election no matter what happens from here on out, he could not say another stupid thing from here until November and it won't matter. He has been defined, the DNC defined him and he spent the last week cementing that definition into people's memory. Now Hillary could really screw up bad and make it close, but I don't think she's capable of blowing it. It would take an outside event for it to swing the other way.
In all my years of closely following elections I have never seen a candidate get so definitively defined as Trump has been to the voters. He's unfit for office and that's never going to change for about 55% of all voters.

I can totally see the polls tightening again, sadly.
