The account with the real money in it is at another bank and has no ATM card.
If you've got enough money to do this for online transactions, it can give you peace of mind. You won't be broke while the bank investigates possible fraud.
I keep less than $400 in my checking at all times, and just pay bills through the account when I need to.

(15,064 posts)there is a cyberwar going on with Russian criminals and Mafia probably guided by the KGB. I realize that's a mouthful that sounds like a conspiracy, but conspiracies do exist. And too much has happened for there not to be the suspicion of criminal actors. I imagine we will see what is next.

(35,374 posts)know this is going on and don't stop it or know it's going on and take advantage of it. These were people either trained to see no distinction between politics, economy, religion, and ideology or who just figure it's allowed unless it's stopped.
(Lots of Americans are like that--unless something is punished, often severely, it's assumed to be approved and officially permitted. Then when something's enforced they're blindsided because of their bass-ackward assumption.)
