Before the Spinmeisters arrive in force. Donald Trump's full "Second Amendment people" quote.....

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment…By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks.Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”

I've already heard some desperate conservasplaining claiming that all Donald Trump (who hasn't yet commented on the situation himself, mind you) was saying was that gun rights voters would flock to the polls to vote against Hillary Clinton, and yay! Democracy in action.

That's not what he said.

He said "If she gets to pick her judges." Meaning she's already been elected President. Because, as far as I know, candidates for President don't get to nominate Supreme Court justices. Only sitting Presidents do that. (Although the current GOP Congress seems to want to ignore that fact.)

He then adds at the end, "That will be a horrible day." In other words, "Shit happens." Or "Assasinations happen." Clearly in his mind, Hillary Clinton merely losing an election to him wouldn't be a "horrible day." So what exactly does he mean by a "horrible day"?

Do me a favor. Do not let this Madman get away with this comment by claiming he was joking or that he was only talking about people voting. Because that's not what he meant, and he knows it, and his supporters know it.

Demand the media ask him what he meant by "horrible day".

If it wasn't an explicit threat, it sure as hell was incitement to violence.

He know just how close to the line to play it. Still dangerous comments to be coming from a candidate.

... that he can't SEE the line anymore. He can't walk this back. He can't have meant anything other than "someone needs to shoot her", and he spiced it with "if you don't, she's gonna take away your guns and you won't be able to protect yourself and your family". It was an "it's her or you" invitation to assassinate her.

Only his most pathologically psychotic supporters will embrace this statement. Everyone else just went "WTF"? His handlers will spin away as best they can, but I expect a barrage of "distancing" statements from GOP politicians, and this won't leave the news cycle for quite a while. I suspect Maddow's show will discuss nothing else tonight.

would be a horrible day if a political assassination took place.

I like going with Option A - that the NRA exercising it's political power is horrible. That is what his campaign advisor is saying.

He came out and called for her assassination, no excuses are going to cover his huge blunder. Even if he did not mean it, he said it and now it is recorded history.

that the election is being stolen. His dirty tricks man, Roger Stone has also said both and recently accused Hillary of assassinating four people. THEY ARE GROOMING THEIR CRAZY SUPPORTERS INTO ACTS OF SEDITION. THIS CREEP SHOULD BE ARRESTED IMMEDIATELY !!! Trump represents the most immediate and grievous threat to the security of the United States. We are on the precipice of civil war now. Arrest him !!!

No matter how the matter is parsed, Trump's comments are clearly calling the single-issue 2nd amendment gun owners to bring their armed power threats into the fray.

He is saying that within the Trump tribe trying to stop Madame President, the only political power with enough clout is in the not yet cold dead hands of the armed segment of their big-pup-tent tribe.
