Where can I find true, unvarnished information about Whitewater?

I've had two people say, "But Whitewater!" to me and I want to be able to refute their opinions or objections accurately and succinctly. I have looked over Wikipedia and a few other sites, but I know there is frequent "editing" that skews the story.

From what I understand, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the Clintons were involved in a land deal that was unsuccessful. Bill was elected president and there were allegations that he and/or Hillary pressured someone to loan money to them, an investigation ensued, Ken Starr had his vengeance-filled field day, and eventually they were cleared of all wrongdoing. During this time, Vince Foster committed suicide. Am I missing something?

This is an honest attempt for me to become knowledgeable so that I can deflect this accusation. I think I'll start next time with, "Tell me what you know about it" which will probably render them silent.

It was the Benghazi of its day. And again, when the dust settled everyone had to admit that the Clintons had done nothing (except actually lose money when the project didn't pan out).

You may want to note that the Republicans have been trying to 'get' something on the Clintons for something like 40 years now. Whitewater, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinski, Vince Foster, Benghazi, Hillary's email server, and on and on. And in all that time, neither Bill not Hillary have been found guilty of anything.

Tell your friends to actually read the Benghazi reports. Trey Gowdy falsified evidence and still couldn't find anything Hillary had done. And remind your friends that Hillary, as Sec of State had asked three times for increased funds for embassy security, and three times the Republicans had actually cut the embassy security budget! But, it is Crooked Hillary, not SOB Republicans who hate Obama so much that they got people killed at Benghazi just to spite Obama and Hillary.

As others have stated, if your last name was Clinton the GOPers would do anything at all to try to find dirt on you. During the Whitewater investigations Monica Lewinsky showed up claiming to have had sex with President Clinton. GOPer congress-critters grilled him on that, and the Whitewater investigation morphed into 'did Bill Clinton lie about a blow job?'

(including the Clintons) dumped money into it to try to save their investment. Jim got himself an S&L and then made illegal loans. Starr began investigating Whitewater in 1994, with Jim as his prize witness. Jim eventually died in prison. Starr found nothing on the Clintons, except the completely unrelated Monica story, which he then pursued

Whitewater turned out to be a story about Jim McDougal, not about the Clintons

....and was then murdered by Chinese donors in the Lincoln Bedroom and dumped in a Fort Marcy Park ladies room ('cause, Y'kmow, if he was having a lesbian affair with Hillary he must have been trans. Believe me, it's true!).
