(42,641 posts)Clearly Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are responsible for everything that is wrong in the world.
On a sane note:
I agree that the Democrats should remind people of this and not assume that the average voter knows this. Lies should be confronted every time they are said.

(17,751 posts)They'd be setting themselves up for supporting the breakdown in Iraq that resulted.. And the corporate media bobble heads will aid in any gop meme, as we've witnessed over and over again.

(24,412 posts)Obama ran on opposition to the invasion and openly supported withdrawing as soon as possible- and caught some flak from the left for not getting us out of there sooner. Democrats supported a timetable in Congress in 2007, which, unfortunately, failed due to Republican opposition and Bush's veto. Of course, the GOP has never been forced to fully agree that we should have never invaded in the first place, never been forced to explain how many more days, months, years, decades, centuries, etc. they think we should have stayed there (or how we were going to pay for it), nor have they been forced to defend/justifying keeping our troops there over the objections of the Iraqi government (which would have essentially become another occupation if we had).

Thanks to our corporate media spectrum, the US is a militarized nation - mentally and in action.
Voters continue to respond like Pavlov's dog.

Perhaps he would say he was being sarcastic?
Heck, 5 years ago if you said that * was responsible for the troop withdrawal because of the SOFA he signed before he left office you'd be dissed as a (R) tool. Facts be damned.
If you pointed out that Obama wanted to keep troops in but that al-Maliki insisted on full implementation of the SOFA, you'd be called anti-Obama. It was an embarrassment, something liked by the Iraqis.
And once enough people "forgot" this little effort, the full withdrawal was a proud achievement.
It's also underhanded to say it was just "a deal." Whenever US troops operate in another country you need a status of forces agreement. It provides authorization for the troops to be there, stipulates their legal status and their proper roles, as well as any support that the "host" country is going to provide.

(4,533 posts)Sometimes our boys would get a little frisky and would murder them, men, women and children. And Iraq was not permitted to try them in Iraqi courts. We would tell them naughty, naughty and make them promise to not do it again but the Iraqis didn't think that was enough. So Iraqi leaders worried about being tossed from office by Iraqis angered over this, kicked us out.

(4,113 posts)Why do they think the economy has gotten worse under Obama when every metric indicates otherwise?
Why do they think Obama is responsible for Khizr Khan's son's death when he was killed in 2004 - four years before Obama was elected POTUS?
People listen to media that they know will affirm their pre-conceived notions about politics and world events.
