Bottom Line: He just doesn't care.

Donald Trump's not especially smart, but he's not a complete moron.

He knows that President Obama didn't literally start ISIS, and that a cursory review of the facts would show definitively that it was founded by Abu Musab al-Zarquawi in 1999.

And yet, he'll still go up in front of thousands and call him the "founder of ISIS". And then on the following day, when asked if he was speaking metaphorically, he'll say straight out, no, he's literally the founder of ISIS.

Communicating that he somehow ludicrously believes that President Obama somehow founded the terrorist organization whose roots date back to the days where he was an Illinois State Senator and who he is currently engaged in a military campaign against.

The next day, when the media points out how incredibly stupid that statement sounds and how foolish Trump sounds saying it, he'll just brush it off and claim he was just speaking "sarcastically." Which isn't even what he was doing if he wasn't implying President Obama literally founded ISIS.

It's just a bizarre phenomenon to watch someone who has no regard for the words coming out of his own mouth. But he just doesn't care about what he says, or think anything he says has any consequence.

And yet, he'll then say without taking a second breath, "Believe me."

And inexplicably, people will.
