by encouraging them to enjoy summer sports in the lovely Olympic venues largely paid for with their money.

Boy, the people of Athens sure are benefiting from this lovely Olympic pool, aren't they?

9. My question is why is there a chair in that pic? Does someone sit in it and reflect on better days?

6. Looks like a few things are being used

The main swimming pool in Athens looks maintained even if the stands are falling down. The bobsled run in Sarajevo looks like a great bike path and I'll bet the skaters like it too. The ski jump above might still be used in winter, note that the pines are being kept out of the area.

I'm surprised by the picture of the pool from the 1936 Berlin Olympics. It looks to be in fairly good shape and we know how much was destroyed there from Allied bombing during WWII.

considering that zone was ground zero during the civil war in the '90s. I think I heard there are scores of bullets lodged in the walls of Olympic buildings, and there appears to be a graveyard in one of the photos, no doubt containing victims of the war.

I really do think they should have probably two permanent sites - one for winter, one for summer. It would eliminate so much waste.

I'm just thankful that the taxpayers spoke up and put and end to any possibility of that nonsense.

There should be dedicated venues and they can host world championships as well.
