In 2009, Australian actor Heath Ledger, a guy most noted for lightweight comedies, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor posthumously for his portrayal of The Joker, a villain from comic book adventures involving a protagonist who fights crime dressed up as a flying rodent.
It seems ridiculous that someone would win an award like that for playing a character so farfetched, but it's undeniable that Mr. Ledger portrayed this seemingly ridiculous character as someone who might really exist. He is truly frightening in his depiction of a demented criminal who seems to get things done despite having no real method to his madness.
In the movie, the Joker character is described as someone who "just wants to see the world burn."
The Joker character, himself, compares himself to "a dog chasing cars. I don't what I'd do with one if I caught it."
I think that pretty much describes our Republican standard bearer for President. I understand that Donald Trump watches a lot of TV and movies. Maybe he thought that the Joker was supposed to be the hero.

(1,712 posts)Look, Trump isn't half as smart as that character. He may be playing for chaos, but he can't pull off squat. He's failing miserably at a presidential campaign, something that enough money should be able to buy because that's what a whole lot of experts do, and what the RNC does. He's possibly going to lose a golf course because he's too egotistical to pay contractors. This is a ground level thug with a bunch of money, nothing more.
