SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 12, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) Organizers are predicting a turnout of 500 to 1,000 for Saturdays annual LDS Church Mass Resignation.
And a lot of them will arrive in a state of fear and trembling.
Its really quite emotional for the people who are there, said Steve Holbrook, an organizer of the recurring event, designed to support those in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who choose to resign their memberships.
Its always hard, right down to the wire, Holbrook said. We see people physically shaking as they sign the forms.
For many, its just a big part of their lives people are going to walk away from. And for their friends and families who always hoped they would come back to the church, its the last nail in the coffin. It (resigning) is a hard thing to do.

(3,212 posts)How about just leaving? Or telling them to shove it? Adios? A letter to the pastor?
I find this rather bizarre.

Leaving in such a public manner is definitely a big "Fuck you," which is ok with me.

(7,939 posts)Mitt Romney's family baptized Ann Romney's atheist father into Mormon church a year AFTER his death.
More questions are being raised about presidential candidate Mitt Romney's religion after it was revealed that he helped baptise his adamantly atheist father-in-law years after the man had died.
Edward Roderick Davies was Ann Romney's father and died in 1992 after living as a staunch atheist all his life.
Recently-discovered records show that, in keeping with their controversial tradition of posthumously baptising non-Mormons, a ceremony was held to invite Mr Davies into the Church of Latter Day Saints one year after he died
Ann Romney's father was given a proxy baptism during a 'special family ceremony' at the Salt Lake Temple- in the baptismal font shown here- 14 months after he died
