I think ti was All things Considered, I'm listening to them talk about the "Just Plain Decency" vote. Or something like that.
Seems they went out to York, PA and found quite a few old line Republicans who were simply appalled at Trump's language and demeanor. Policy had nothing to do with it-- they just thought he was a boor and had no place in the White House.
OK, I'll take it.

(111,267 posts)and I'm quite used to the assertive northern urban east coast people. This is different, Trump is the guy you invite to dinner at home if you owe him some sort of social obligation because you know he'll embarrass you in a restaurant.
I am somewhat grateful to the man for resurrecting such a useful but nearly forgotten word. Now if only someone will come along to fully illustrate "fop," my world will be closer to completion.

(9,267 posts)My only known Republican relative, a cousin, lives there. In an effort to keep family peace I've never discussed politics with her, but she's a retired teacher still getting all the great benefits and pension that her teachers union has gotten her yet a Repug. Honestly don't know what she thinks of Trump and not going to ask.

I hear it all the time-- is it trolling or just ignorance?

(17,117 posts)And don't get me started on Cokie Roberts.
You, of course, are entitled to a different experience. NPR is the last button I push on my car radio these days. Maybe I've been too quick to react, but I've heard too many things that made me push NPR into the radio dump heap. My NPR listening experience is very limited these days.

(43,049 posts)There's a lot more on NPR than Morning Edition and Cokie.

Or as seems to be the case on most of their news shows they have to insert that "Clinton has a trust problem" into most political stories, whether it is relevant or not.
And yeah Cokie Roberts and Mara Liasson and Tucker Carlson and Jonah Goldberg etc. They can't seem to find liberal commentators.
NPR would be a great place for a weekly Jon Stewart commentary.

(13,452 posts)When Diane would take treatment, some woman would take over and it would be horrible for those of us that read as well as listen.
Lately, even Diane would only make one followup question and then stop. Her guests would be ready for that these days and so it is like going back in time or to another channel with no followup questions. Diane's replacement woman ... like she never heard another side to a story.
They had to get rid of Carl Castle shortly before his multiple decades anniversary and replace him.
If two parties continue to constitute our politics, we should have at least two separate radio stations broadcasting in each locale.

(9,828 posts)Living on Earth, Snap Judgement, RadioLab, To the Best of Our Knowledge. These are the reasons I listen to and support NPR. I listen to NPR on a regular basis and have since 1971, and I have never noticed a rightwing slant to the news at any time during the intervening years. There does seem to have been an effort to be more "balanced" for the past several years, but that does not mean they are right wing. They are, IMHO, one of the most balanced sources of news available to the US public. I don't watch TV, and this is one of the few choices available to me.

(10,418 posts)I think there's some old saying about being easy to please, but I can't put my finger on it. But, yeah, regarding the people in your post, even if you just have a little bit of class and sophistication you'll be turned off by Trump.
