You can't spend money you don't have.

That's the Republican meme that is resonating with the Repub voters--the ones who are apolitical.

So I'm thinking, wasn't Ronald Reagan's philosophy supply side economics? Wasn't the man all about spend, spend, spend? These people view this man like he's a God, when by today's standards he is outdated because the Republicans have spent it all.

I think we have something that we can build on, because you know that these apolitical voters are not engaged enough in the debate to fully understand the extent of their soundbite reasoning. This is where the Dems should start to nick away at the Republicans.

I have no clue what that means. If it means what it literally says, it is dead wrong. The Federal Government can (and regularly does) spend money it does not have. It can create money out of thin air (and it does so all the time). Ultimately, that's a stupid slogan.

as long as it was for things like "gold-plated weapons".

But in the same breath he'd turn around and deride the "tax-and-spend liberals"

in leveraged buyouts to buy companies. So...is he now saying that the very act of spending money Bain did not have can't work? He is a strange man.

In Minnesota they have screwed over countless small business owners by not paying their bills. They are in debt here by millions of dollars.
