Oh, this is just delicious...
What ticked him off, I guess the New York Times had a story on his chief campaign guy Manafort being involved in some scandal in, where is it, Ukraine or Manafort supposedly benefiting from some policy in Ukraine. It doesn't look pretty. And the Wall Street, folks, the media today is just -- I've never seen this. I have never seen what I am witnessing. (laughing) It's gotten so bad, I'm actually wondering if there's gonna be a backlash to this. I'm not wishful thinking here. I long ago gave up wishful thinking, on anything, not just this, I mean, just anything.

The Great Bloviator, of course, has been pimping what few outlier polls claim Trump has any sort of lead, but clear until now he has never wavered in claiming Trump was on the right course and has got this in the bag. It looks like, finally, reality (and dare I say: despair?) is beginning to sink in, in even the most hallowed of conservative circles.
The best part is, when Trump gets thoroughly trounced in November, all these talk radio shock jocks are already laying the groundwork to blame Establishment Republicans for not circling the wagons and getting on-board the Trump Train when it really counted. These fools are going to convince a significant chunk of their audience that the Republican Party itself has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, planting the notion that if the Establishment won't back more conservative candidates, why should conservatives ever back them?
The long-term damage to the GOP brand is going to resonate for quite a few more election cycles, the way this is shaping up... all thanks to these conservative "purists" who think doubling-down on their right-wing bullshit is a winning strategy for a general election.

(65,076 posts)I couldn't make a lick of sense from that quote other than "media sucks", of course ignoring the fact that he is in the media. And even that thought wasn't exactly resonating with clarity or logic.
But, that second paragraph? What the heck was he talking about?

(182,830 posts)That's his show in a nutshell. Blathering while sticking in some inside jokes (to his audience) and never directly stating anything.

(58,724 posts)At least 40 percent of the county votes Republican.
Weird that he refers to it as a foreign country.

(20,692 posts)That makes us "foreign."
We are a very progressive, informed state. If they vote republican, it's because they're extremely rich and want all the tax breaks and de-regulations for their industries.
This is hedge-fun-world. You'll find one at any upscale bar.

(58,724 posts)Which is not exactly hedge-fund world.
Stamford and Norwalk also have quite a bit of diversity.
Though, the Republicans are probably mostly found among the wealthier county residents, I agree.
There are quite a few hedge fund types who are Democrats also.
It is just weird that he calls Fairfield CT a foreign country. What does he consider the "real" America exactly? He lives in Palm Beach.

(58,724 posts)And that is where he lives. So how can he think of Fairfield, CT as a foreign country?

(11,949 posts)Has been saying for years they just need to go more conservative. Well, they have and it is about to doom them.
The best part is that a good bit of the party will refuse to believe that is the reason they lost and go just as hard right next time.
