The house seems so quiet

My wife's niece and her husband are starting a business and were going to hire someone to watch their kids during the summer because they are busy so my wife asked if it would bother me if she brought them to our place for the summer. We had a blast, Disneyland, day trips, Pokemon Go the works, our kids are grown and I didn't realize how much I missed having kids around. Well they started school again and are gone and we have an empty nest again. We were talking about how much we missed them and I gave my wife a long look and her loving response was "not on your life old man". If there is anything worse than a woman who doesnt understand you it is one who does.

My wife had the child when I met her, and we've never looked back. Chaotic, crazy, sometimes angry, playful, and every other thing kids go through, that's what my (legally) step daughter goes through. Oh yeah, did I mention that she is not yet an American citizen and is still more patriotic than trump or any of his followers?
Having said all of this, methinks you may be better off without small children around. After all, you did your thing. Relax and enjoy yourself.

Married and had their kids quite young, and when the kids were both off to college the wife started dropping hints about how she'd like another baby (she was young enough). They got a Pomeranian.

He's 14, she's 9.
Here with our daughter and son-in-law for their annual week with us on the gulf coast.
The house looks like a tornado hit.
We miss them already.

The first thing that came to mind was foster care... fills a need for sure... Been doing that for 11 years now.

But I think my wife is ready to enjoy our time. I believe I enjoy having kids around because I never really grew up.

They liked raising their own children and they felt they were especially good at handling boys. So the had seceral foster sons come through thwir home for about 15 years.

and travel the continent. Or travle the world and become an expat. Your life will improve 100%. 100's of Youtubes about full-time RV'ing. My favorite is 'Enigmatic Nomadics' who interviews people full-time RVing.
The tech revolution makes it much more viable now. U can Skype friends and relatives all day long for free if you want from anywhere in the world.
