6,900,000,000,000: Gallons of rainfall in one week

6,900,000,000,000: Gallons of rainfall in one week

About 6.9 trillion gallons of rain pummeled Louisiana between August 8 and 14, according to meteorologist Ryan Maue.

That's enough to fill more than 10.4 million Olympic-size swimming pools.

Seven recs and Louisiana dies once again.

A friend was not as fortunate, she and her son has water to the roofs and as of yesterday was not able to return to check on the damage. All furnishings will be lost plus pictures, etc, really sad.

Your friend and son are safe, yet the memories they lost are irreplaceable. Yes, their lives are most important yet they lost their past.

The big lake holds 39 -42 trillion gallons depending on the gate settings controlling the upper 6 feet or so. Enough water in the lake to cover California in 14+ inches - that's the whole state. If the weatherman's (or person's) number is correct, enough rain fell in Louisiana to cover all of California in about 2 inches. Wow!
