The saying voters have a short memory rings more than true. And such a state is what allows a pathological liar like Trump to blame Democratic policies for destroying Detroit when it was actually GOP policies over time that caused the destruction. To make matters even worse is that he and the GOP is blaming Democrats for the economic and social conditions of blacks and other minorities.
There seems to be no limit to what the GOP and Trump will make up. And our lame MSM allows these falsehoods to gain credibility. Such extreme falsehood is a threat to democracy and our society.

(5,811 posts)We're not manipulated by fear, hate and ignorance so I don't see him polling any better in November. but more importantly, he has demonstrated PROFOUND and CONSTANT disrespect for the first African American President of the United States who is a symbol of Black Excellence, Black Legacy, and Black Struggle Realized.
Finally, Trump promotes stereotypes of blackness such as we're all poor, uneducated and live in ghettos. I have a PhD and I don't live in the ghetto even I consider myself financially poor. We have a huge wealth class which he denies. We have African American students excelling academically at dramatically greater than pre-Obama. We have a significant number of African Americans who own homes on Martha's Vineyard. We have more African Americans graduating from high school and college. We have more African Americans going into STEM. And Black Excellence is on FULL display at the Rio Olympics. Trump ignores this part of the Blackness.
Instead he pursues negatuve stereotypes of Blackness which originally targeted European Americans. [see Isenberg]

(51,620 posts)This whole purported attempt to appeal to African Americans is really an attempt to appeal to weary independents, who don't want to be associated with a racist. The Trump camp is hoping this so-called AA appeal acts like the fig leaf independents need to feel ok about supporting Trump.
