"He doesn't think before he speaks"

It was fascinating to watch Luntz's focus group of Republican voters this morning. About half of them said they've reconsidered and don't think they can vote for him if he doesn't start behaving himself. One woman said "He doesn't think before he speaks". Another said he is embarrassing her and the party. Alternatively, another woman said she doesn't care how he acts she won't vote for Hillary and won't give up her vote.

It was pointed out that Trump isn't a politician and has never run for office, so he doesn't know how to act (awww poor baby).

Several came around at the end and said that if Trump starts talking about the issues and stops attacking people they'll vote for him after all.

The conversation after that (Face the Nation) featured Rince Priebus making excuses for his candidate, talking about Trump as if he's a petulant child who just doesn't know how to control himself, but hey - he's learning!

I fail to see how, if Trump is having problems with the Republican base, he can dramatically shift perception (which takes time) and not only appease them but expand to minorities, etc. It just isn't going to happen.

They think the only thing wrong with him is that he's not hiding his bigotry well enough.

I don't know about anyone else, but if I went into a job interview so grossly unqualified and the said the thing he has said, the interview would be over.

How do these people flip-flop (pivot) their votes so easily?

It's because they really can't think for themselves; they do what they're told. Some have a level of uncomfortableness with Drumpf so they're confused, but will fall in line if he says nice things. No matter his character and integrity (or total lack thereof).

actually vote for a mentally disturbed unqualified candidate, you should watch PBS American Experience - Reagan Part 1 and 2. You will not believe what they so casually say about Reagan.

Once you watch that, it makes sense that white nationalists and angry white voters would support Trump.

He has no filter, which is good because the truth comes out.
