"...that doesn't mean she didn't lie in her public comments."
This is what I hear from Republicans on the talk shows this morning.
Is this puzzling to anyone else?
The FBI questioned her on the matters that were in dispute and they said she was "truthful" in her comments to them. That is what Director Comer said. What else were they supposed to question her about??
"But she lied in her public comments!", the Republicans scream.
These people are dangerously insane.

I agree that they have done great damage to our country. They are divisive by nature.

The first statement was Donald Trumps unscripted response this month when asked whether he regretted attacking the parents of a slain soldier.
Trumps has been a life-long pattern of deliberate statements, particularly with regard to women. (There are lists of these going back more than 20 years.)
Trump, by the way, is doubling down on his most famous lie: His promise to release his tax returns. Lets get real, folks. Virtually everything that comes out of Trumps mouth, every aspect of his agenda, is a lie. https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/wp/2016/08/19/trumps-statement-of-regret-is-just-one-more-lie/?utm_term=.a41b9674b0b8

If lying in public is the new indictable offense, every politician in the world better resign right now.

(82,849 posts)The announcer conceded that while Hillary Clinton hadn't broken any laws and the Clinton Foundation hadn't done anything wrong, it was nevertheless bad for her to be so relentlessly portrayed as having lied under oath and for the Foundation to have to answer the same questions over and over again. It was like stepping off a merry-go-round: If she didn't break the law, and the Foundation has been above board and legitimate, who keeps posing all these damaging questions? Apparently, the questions just spontaneously form out of the ether, and nobody can say where they come from or why they keep coming up. The upshot is that the Clintons have to keep answer the questions until an answer satisfactory to the unknown and unseen questioner is tendered.
Very disappointed in NPR, acknowledging on one hand that the Clintons haven't done anything wrong, yet persisting in asking the questions over and over again.

(34,661 posts)Joe McCarthy,Roy Cohn and Richard Nixon in the 1950's. What we are seeing is Journalism at it's worst. Using guilt via association, false equivalency, and straw man phrasing. This carp will continue until the Clinton Campaign hits back with a sledge hammer on these individuals. Do remember Edward R.Morrow and his calling out of these Demagogues. That put a end to this type of Media coverage until 1987 with the demise of the Fairness Doctrine.
