Addictive behavior can take many forms and what the addict is focused on is that little rush of happy chemicals in his brain. He'll compulsively chase it while he loses everything in his life. It happens with gamblers, also, they're not after the money, they're after the next rush of winning.

When Weiner didn't stop after losing his office, we had to know something was wrong. I just hope Huma leaves him enough money for the inpatient therapy he's going to need.

This has gone far beyond "case of arrested development, he needs to grow up" and into obviously compulsive behavior. He needs the kind of help nobody at DU can give him.
