Stanford rapist is being released this Friday after serving THREE months of his six month sentence.

Absolute travesty of justice.

Stanford Rapist Brock Turner Will Be Released From Jail on Friday

Despite being sentenced to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman, former Stanford swimmer Brock Turner will now be released Friday, Sept. 2, three months ahead of schedule. As previously reported, Turner's unusually light sentence was shortened before it even began, due to "automatically applied 'credits'" for good behavior.

In January 2015, multiple people witnessed Turner sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster on Stanford University's campus. When two graduate students approached him to make sure the woman was all right, Turner fled — only to be tackled moments later and held down until police arrived at the scene.

Turner was found guilty of three felony counts of sexual assault in June, crimes that normally carry a minimum two-year sentence. However, the judge in the case, Aaron Persky, instead elected to sentence Turner to six months plus probation, a decision that sparked national outrage and multiple petitions demanding he be disbarred. Judge Persky has since announced he will no longer hear criminal cases, according to CNN.

He isn't not going to be disbarred but the recall movement has been picking up steam and has the real potential to remove him from the bench.

~snip~
Both the judge and two groups backing his removal have just begun filling their war chests for a possible recall. There have been only two successful judicial recalls in California, which is one of just eight states that allows voters to remove a judge from office.

"The list is just one example of the extraordinary set of circumstances that caused this case to rise to the level it has," said Larry Gerston, a retired San Jose State political science professor. "Persky is the symbol of an awful lot of angst for a lot of people -- not just here, but across the nation."

Persky touched off an international firestorm when he sentenced Stanford swimmer Brock Turner to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an intoxicated, unconscious woman outside a campus frat party.

Since then, opponents have gathered millions of online signatures protesting his decision. They have researched other cases that they say show he has a pattern of leniency. And the Legislature has approved new laws to tighten the penalty for sexually assaulting an intoxicated victim. Last week, Persky asked to be removed from criminal cases and next week will be reassigned to civil court.

That doesn't even amount to a slap on the wrist.

Justice was definitely not served here.

Merely six months for three counts of felony assault. I'd call that privilege, though I imagine many sexists and MRA's (though I repeat myself) will rationalize it as something else.

This type of ruling will prevent many future assault victims from seeking justice in fear that the same thing will happen to them again in half a year... or less.

My ex-husband was at Stanford - during Graduation Festivities for his MBA program he got bombed and drove home - Menlo Park - close as u could get to Stanford for off campus housing A cop flashed his lights to pull him over....He sped up and went through small neighborhoods at high speeds to try and ditch cop....pulled into driveway at the house - cop pulled in 30 seconds later...

The cop saw his license, registration etc and the fact that he had just graduated..... no breathylyzer, no drunk test....nuttin'..... it was all well and good.

I guess the MBA pays off....

well, it's important that we have priorities, namely getting these sorts of "low-risk" sex offenders out so we can make sure there's plenty of cell space available for the millions of pot smokers we need to incarcerate.
