Kansas misses August revenue estimates by about $10 millionStaff and wire reports SEPTEMBER 1, 2016 4:12 PM
Kansas missed revenue estimates for August by more than $10 million.
The state fell 2.3 percent below estimates for the month overall.
It was the fourth straight month that Kansas has failed to hit its revenue projections. Tax collections have fallen short 10 of the past 12 months.
Kansas has struggled to balance its budget since GOP legislators heeded Brownbacks call to slash personal income taxes in 2012 and 2013 as an economic stimulus. On Thursday, an economist with the Washington-based Tax Foundation told Mississippi lawmakers evaluating planned tax cuts that Kansas is an example of what not to do in tax reform.

(16,038 posts)But most of the state of Kansas is in a labor crunch...entry level jobs through skilled labor are getting very difficult to fill. Healthcare workers are extremely difficult here (perhaps everywhere). Unskilledģentry level....dining, housekeeping, grounds, maintenance etc jobs with decent starting pay including insurance and other benefits are sorely lacking....I am part of a statewide non-profit healthcare alliance and staffing is a conversation at every meeting...this problem isn't localized.

(16,038 posts)Going to CO for meds...they are already about to lose medical here (meaning it is about to pass) they don't want to add another log to that fire. Last year Sedgwick county (Wichita) passed a city ordnance to decriminalize, state law overruled...but it is a movement in KS...
I know a lot of people who have left the state in the last 2 years, almost all moved to CO...

(20,692 posts)What a surprise.
You kill off the middle class, and there's no one to pay the revenue. The rich have it rigged so they won't pay. The poor can't.
Huge surprise: No one's paying taxes.
