Remember how W. Bush blew off the August 6, 2001 CIA memo -- "Osama determined to strike in the

United States."

Take a look at http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/11/cia-directors-documentary-911-bush-213353 for a trip through memory lane on this.

In the months leading up to the attack, Ashcroft said that anyone who kept bringing up the possibility of an attack by Al Qaeda would be fired from the justice department. Bush and Condi ignored Clinton and Richard Clark.

Then with trumped up "information" (manufactured with the acquiescence of people being tortured), the untrue rational for the invasion of Afghanistan and for Iraq was developed.

My
Way of thinking is this: if Al Gore had been president 9/11 does not happen. Why? Because Al would not have ignored the most important message in that PDB. That's what I believe, anyway.🌞😰

A Christmas "TV Funhouse" 3 months afterwards was a real shot at the fear mongering Bush Adm. SNL is done in Manhattan and Anthrax was sent to 30 Rock. They were Ground 1 for a while.

TV FUNHOUSE: THE NARRATOR THAT RUINED CHRISTMAS

Sam the Snowman is depressed over 9/11 and terror alerts and feels like narrating Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer isn't important this year. Instead, he takes the kids to visit Ground Zero and it's up to Santa to set him straight. [Season 27, 2001]

8. Also, President Gore wouldn't have been so hapless months earlier

Remember when the Chinese brought down one of our spy planes early in the Bush administration? After a few days of impotent bluster, the Bushies settled for Chinese assurances that the flight crew was being safely held and that they'd get Bibles during their incarceration. After the Chinese took their sweet time going over the captured plane piece by piece, they turned it over to our good friends the Russians to carry it back to the States on a slow boat from China.

I'd bet some hostile eyes took a good look at the Bush administration flailing, and figured they could bring off their scheme, as disinterested as the Bushies were in security.

3. They were just waiting for the attack so they'd have an excuse for war.

I'm sure it was more devastating than anything they imagined but the New American Century gang were delighted to be able to put their prepared plan into action even if it didn't have anything to do with the attack.

They had petitioned Clinton years before to start this war but he ignored them.

Stopped counting at 52 slowly slowly dripped revelations. How anyone can vote Republican is beyond me.

6. I remember after the US Cole bombing...

...the neocons advised "Bomb Saddam". It didn't matter that there was no hint of him being involved, we "had to show the Arab Street that you don't mess with us."

The administration, not being a pack of ideologues rebreathing each others' hot air, took the more sensible course of finding out who did it so that we could retaliate against the actual culprits. That took up most of the remaining three months of his term, and the information was handed to the incoming administration.

Which did nothing.

Filled with chickenhawk neocons from the PNAC Gallery, they'd spent the previous eight years shouting "bomb Saddam" every time something happened in the Middle East, and sneering at Clinton for being "obsessed" with "a guy in a tent". "Non-state actors aren't A serious threat", they thought, and they thought they knew more than anyone and everyone else.

They were wrong then. They're still wrong.

And they've never learned. They haven't learned a damn thing.

7. That Always Seemed So Stupid To Me

Saddam was the least of our problems over there. He got froggy once and his "4th biggest military in the world" got pasted in 40 days by the coalition forces. If anybody knew not to spit into the wind, it was him. So, i always thought it was stupid that he kept coming up as a target and a threat.

9. This Ashcroft?

" In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

"There was a threat assessment and there are guidelines. He is acting under the guidelines," an FBI spokesman said. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department, however, would identify what the threat was, when it was detected or who made it. "

11. Of course, no matter what, Ashcroft was too important to risk any kind of danger.

Then, when Congresswoman Pelosi became Speaker of the House, ranked just after VP in succession, the gop had a field day with their screaming and crying that she wasn't flying commercial, that too much taxpayer money was being spent on her safety. While they were bumping the terror alert colors up and down the whole time.

It's only a 'credible threat' when it involves even a 1% chance that one of the republicans is in danger.

Then there's this from Condi Rice:
"Rice Concerned about Genoa - Clarke will recall in 2006 that Rice focuses on the possible threat to Bush at an upcoming summit meeting in Genoa, Italy (see June 13, 2001 and July 20-22, 2001). Rice and Bush have already been briefed about the Genoa warning by this time (see July 5, 2001). Rice also promises to quickly schedule a high-level White House meeting on al-Qaeda. However, that meeting does not take place until September 4, 2001 (see September 4, 2001). [McClatchy Newspapers, 10/2/2006] ...
The G8 summit is held in Genoa, Italy. Acting on previous warnings that al-Qaeda would attempt to kill President Bush and other leaders, Italian authorities surround the summit with anti-aircraft guns. They keep fighter jets in the air and close off local airspace to all planes. [Los Angeles Times, 9/27/2001] The warnings are taken so seriously that Bush stays overnight on an aircraft carrier offshore, and other world leaders stay on a luxury ship. [CNN, 7/18/2001] No attack occurs. US officials state that the warnings were “unsubstantiated,” but after 9/11, they will claim success in preventing an attack. [Los Angeles Times, 9/27/2001] "

That's the same National Security Advisor who said:

"I don't think that anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon, that they would try to use an airplane as a missile."
Press conference, May 16, 2002.

I can see exactly how and why their orange nazi candidate is so successful at telling blatant lies, never gets called on his constant exhibitions of hypocrisy, and has a cartoonishly dangerous foreign and national security policy that is retailed to the American public as 'legitimate'.
