Who's Romney Think He's Fooling With His Response To Obama's DREAM Order? Romney Hates Immigrants.

Romney has expressed his hatred for immigrants to the U.S. so many times in the past that it's hard to imagine he thinks anyone is actually buying his response to President Obama's announcement of his executive order halting deportations for DREAM-eligible youth.

Who is Romney speaking to when he says the President's order will make comprehensive immigration reform 'harder?' Anyone predisposed to immigration solutions which are humane, fair, and productive will recognize the President's order as a logical and acceptable step in the direction of an immigration policy which is more pragmatic than it's punitive.

The only reason these youth that the president granted temporary amnesty are in jeopardy is because opponents of immigrants were able to manipulate the legislative process to deny the popular DREAM Act from coming up for a clear vote. Romney and other republicans have benefited from their orchestrated legislative limbo by acting as if they have something more to offer the debate than amendments designed and intended to do nothing more than stall the DREAM bill while they danced whatever dance their political audience would applaud.

Look at Romney's statement yesterday.

"It's an important matter to be considered and should be solved on a long-term basis so they know what their future would be in this country," Romney said. Obama's executive order to allow some illegal immigrants to obtain work permits and stay in the U.S. legally was problematic, he said, because "an executive order, of course, is a short-term matter. It can be reversed by subsequent presidents."

The republican's presumptive nominee for president has neglected to publicly state his opinion on the actual subject of deporting children who had no control whatsoever over where their parents chose to live. Instead, he's trying to make it appear that he has some alternative policy up his sleeve which would allow these young folks to remain in the U.S. to further their education.

He doesn't. Yet, he just can't bring himself to just repeat his past venomous remarks and positions which would show the American public the ogre and xenophobe hiding behind his phony concern about the impact of the Obama DREAM order on the immigration reform effort in Congress.

Romney certainly does want an immigration reform bill. For a man whose immediate ancestors took advantage of the then-porous border between the U.S. and Mexico to flee from the consequences of our nation's bigamy laws for Romney's polygamous great-grandfather, Romney is determined to keep others from taking similar advantage of refuge in America.

Yet, there's obviously more to it than just immigration policy for Romney. Few in politics have been as confrontational and as adversarial toward our nation's immigrants as him . . .

If he's going to appeal to his racist and rabid base of republican voters that his peers carefully cultivated in their shameful and denigrating primary, Romney will have to stop the weasel words and just let his foreigner-hatred hang all the way out.

I'll help get him started:

1. Romney attacked Governor Rick Perry for supporting the DREAM Act, calling it a “magnet for illegal immigration.”: In a Florida GOP debate, Romney accused Governor Rick Perry of engendering a “magnet” in Texas by allowing the children of illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition. Romney maintained that even though many children had no part in their families’ decisions to immigrate to the United States, they should not be able to have the same academic opportunities as their peers. September 2011, USA Today

2. Romney pledged to veto the DREAM Act: In December, Mitt Romney promised to veto the DREAM Act if he were elected president. Then during a January GOP debate, Romney called allowing any undocumented workers to gain permanent residency “a mistake.” December 2011, ABC News

3. Romney promised to make life so miserable for undocumented immigrants that they would “self-deport.”: At the Florida Republican Debate, Romney said that he would enforce stringent documentation policies that would make it difficult for illegal immigrations to find work, eventually spurring them to “self-deport.” According to Romney, “If people don’t get work here they’re going to self-deport to a place where they can get work.” January 2012, Huffington Post

4. Romney rebuffed undocumented young woman who was brought to the U.S. at age 10 and had a 4.0 grade-point average: Romney had a particularly awkward encounter when an undocumented worker demanded to know why he wouldn’t support the DREAM Act. After the young woman informed Romney of her 4.0 grade point average, the former governor was quickly ushered away by aides. January 2012, The Hill

5. Romney consults author of extreme anti-immigrant legislation on immigration issues: Romney consults Kris Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State and author of harsh immigration laws in Arizona, South Carolina, and Alabama, as an advisor. Kobach is a controversial figure who has become the leading spokesman of the hardcore anti-immigration movement. April 2012, ThinkProgress

"It can be reversed by subsequent presidents," Romney said. Do tell.

Now he is over a barrel. Side with the bigots or play the game and risk losing their vote.

I wonder how many tight spots the President will stick Mr. Magic Pants before November.

I doubt he's capable of putting that together in his bigoted mind. If he can't discuss it at the country club, it's not worth his thinking about. He's just thrown all of the usual republican props in the air and he expects they'll adorn him like a blanket of roses . . . he didn't give a thought about the thorns, though.

They're just super-duper top-secret plans that can't be revealed until they've won the WH, House and Senate. Seriously, people are still buying that line of bullshit.

It's common knowledge in Washington that the Republicans have vowed nothing less than full obstruction going forward and, at least, until the election. If they do win all three, they're going to make what happened during the Bush maladministration look like child's play.

They have no ideas, they can't govern and they are unfit to run a hot-dog stand, let alone a country. Hell, they can't even run their own party - the Teabaggers have hijacked it.

Rant off.

It will be sheer luck if Romney can care enough to figure out the political conundrum that he'll need to reconcile and ride if he wants to be a serious contender. I'm not even sure he really cares enough about the actual people he's looking to become accountable with (Democrats or republicans) to keep whatever mask he puts on in place long enough to get and keep the support he needs. He's even more disinterested in the actual governance that goes with the job than Bush was. Look into his eyes when he talks to people. He's the most smarmy, stuck-up candidate I've ever seen make it this far.

"Why aren't we talking about jobs and the economy?" He doesn't actually have a plan, just soundbites and obfuscation.

Even with the full resources of the MSM at his disposal, I'm not sure that crap is going to fly for much longer.

I didn't believe that when the Baggers have torn this country apart that they will not reap any benefits. The same people who pushed them up to do what they are doing are going to devour their dumb asses next. Too bad most of us won't be around to witness it.
