What if we all quit watching the new shows? I mean CNN, MSNBC, all of them.

Could we make a difference? I truly don't know. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it clear to them how horrific their "reporting" is. Already their approval ratings are at an all time low of 32%. I feel they need to pay for their complicity in the disaster that is this election cycle. I'm serious when I ask if there's a way we could bring them down. I have just had it! I'd appreciate some feedback from anyone who's interested.

That's why I haven't gotten all in a twist about the polls. I don't watch ANY of that shit. I knew in 2000 that I had had enough, and I finally pulled the plug, and I'm much, much happier. No more dumb ass "interviews" from the likes of Matt Lauer, and I don't have to listen to that FUCKING idiot, Phil Robertson ( WHY in the FUCK would ANYBODY want to LISTEN to him?). . . .

seems like they just want to push real Americans to the side..I don't watch - used to - a lot..not anymore...

Democracy Now - Tom Hartmann - good resources..also - Lawrence Odonnell - not much else - here and at Media Matters..think progress..the guardian - Daily Kos..in each case you still get a flavor of what the haters are doing and saying..but the analysis is factual - not twisted...IMHO..be well..

All the cable and network news. I haven't watched in years. The last one I did watch was MSNBC, but gave it up when they dumped Keith O. Nothing but lies and lies by omission. Fuck 'em!

... and watch the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite.

I never got into the television news habit. There's just too much stuff I don't care about, especially the manufactured controversies and disaster porn.

Local television news across the U.S.A. is atrocious and often features the "scary black or brown person of the day." Occasionally white people make the "scary person of the day feature" but only if they've got Nazi tattoos on their faces or they murdered, maimed, or raped little boys and girls outside any Christian setting.

of their inanity. I tell anyone who will listen that they are entertainers not reporters, that they can't report a single fact without putting some spin on it and that they are forever telling you how they want you to see an issue and that is you go along with it and parrot it, you look naive.

Most especially, NO TV NEWS!

I don't imagine I've hurt the industry much, but I certainly feel much healthier.

Watching television news in the U.S.A. makes a person less informed than they'd be without it.

My wife and I do have a television, but all it plays is commercial free movies.

Sometimes my wife buys new DVDs, sometimes we rent them from Redbox, and sometimes I find them in the thrift stores.

I use the TIVO and the mute button.

Otherwise its incredibly insulting LCD rubbish.

Apart from skipping their outrageously over shown ads the Tivo works well for skimming the twee stuff.

What a time saver.

But overall I'd just love to cut the cord.

I don't own a television, and my life is much saner as a result. I can watch a surprising amount of things over the internet. There are rarely commercials, which is quite nice, and I'm not bamboozled by thinking that whatever idiocy is being promoted actually matters.

I'd recommend to everyone to cut cable at a minimum.

The problem is convincing other people to quit watching cable news entirely. For me, for a long time, it was like an addiction. At best it was always on in the background as white noise to drown out the loneliness; I could probably write a whole post on how antidepressants stopped me watching MSNBC.

my cable connection went down this morning, I haven't had it all day until the guy got here. So, I guess this will be my first day without the media. I love certain T.V. shows so I'm not going to get rid of it altogether. However, moving forward, I'm done with them.

I'm especially glad I did that the last couple of years, after hearing they run commercials on what used to be dubbed "commercial-free TV" (which was the whole point of paying for cable, back in the day).

Now I just use my Roku, and I don't pay subscriptions to anyone. If I want to watch Rachel or something, I just stream a podcast on my PC or on Roku's YouTube app.
