(61,698 posts)How did they all know to do the same thing without direction from the senior management?
But Sr. Mgmt gets bonuses and golden parachutes. Sociopaths, all of them.

(82,849 posts)According to CEO John Stumpf, nobody in any position of authority at Wells Fargo directed those employees to open all those bogus accounts. In Stumpf's telling, it's like all 5,300 of them independently came up with this terrific scam to fleece depositors, fatten the bottom line, and make Wells Fargo stock more attractive to investors as well as having the salutary effect of making executive compensation more lucrative. None of that caught the attention of Stumpf or any of his other well-connected executives, who are apparently quite accustomed to having money fall out of the sky into their pockets.
Stumpf claims he accepts "full responsibility," but that responsibility doesn't seem to come with any penalty. As Sen. Warren noted, Stump's still drawing his full salary, still has his nice job, none of his senior executives have been fired, nobody's gone to jail, and Carrie Tolstedt, who walked away four months ago with $125 million, is in line for her year-end bonus.
Maybe we need a little tumbrel procession around Wells Fargo headquarters?
