Look closely at this from about 2:10 marks -- just before the object starts to fall from the side of the African American officer -- to - around 2:14, when the object lands on the ground.
Then look again around 2:24 as the African America officer moves to pick up the same object he appeared to drop.
We need to get the media's attention on this. We need to make this go viral.

(4,112 posts)he said, "Plant. You can count on it." I'm so angry and disgusted, I can barely think straight. RIP, Keith.
I think he drops and later picks up gloves.
Also, in the photos which show a gun have it closer to the curb. Odd thing though...I don't see anything near the curb in the video.

(12,022 posts)By accident? There's no reason to throw gloves on the ground.

(9,148 posts)releasing the video now. The law states that police videos DO NOT have to be shared with the public.
It is in effect Oct 1.
They said that this is the reason they are holding onto the video, to wait out that deadline. At which point it will never have to be shown.
Does anyone know about this law?

(21,506 posts)McCrory, a Republican, signed North Carolina's body camera bill in July, saying it strikes the "necessary balance" between a public's right to know and protecting law enforcement officers. His administration, including Secretary of Public Safety Frank Perry, continue to defend the law from criticism.

(17,863 posts)When she first starts filming him. You can see a dark object. It gets obscured later by him and his shadow. Not saying it is a gun, but take a look.

(11,996 posts)The red guy when the view 1st swings around. He seems to step back over it after grabbing the gloves.

(15,888 posts)First, from the man in the red shirt and then the black officer. Run the video in very slow motion. It is clear to me that gun(s) are planted.

(15,888 posts)Then he picks it up. The other man throws down two items which could be gloves. I think they knew they are being filmed so they want confusion here.

(29,503 posts)some of them ARE going to end up abusing their power.
On edit, not sure if it's a gun or a glove I see dropping to the ground.

They are putting on gloves to render aid- normal- and they move the gun away from the suspect for safety- normal.

(62,444 posts)That object is closer to the camera than his feet are, and it would be a pretty tiny gun.

(23,343 posts)I haven't seen one in many years, but I think they're still available. And small.
jberryhill
(62,444 posts)Okay, so this gun is maybe a third the size of his shoe and about the width of a little finger.
Maybe he has big feet, but if he does, I'll bet he has big hands.
But, in all the internets, nobody has identified this particular gun?
Really?

(8,712 posts)Look at the leaves to the right. It's the size of a small leaf.

(3,666 posts)Look how small it is in comparison to the person's foot. Blow it up and you'll see it's not even metallic. It looks sort of crumpled. And that part that stick out looks more like a thumb of a glove, say, than a trigger or a hammer.
Calista241
(5,586 posts)That weapon is going to be tested.
If the weapon is clean of fingerprints, that's more than a little suspicious. If the cops fingerprints are on it, despite them wearing gloves, that's more than a little suspicious. Planting the subjects fingerprints, once the gun is public and on video, is nigh impossible. Especially with 20 more police officers and other first responders just minutes from showing up.
The cop had to have the gun, clean of all his fingerprints, on his person throughout his shift in case this situation presented itself. There was no opportunity for him to go back to his car, retrieve and / or clean a gun, then come back and place it.
And it's not as simple as putting the suspects finger on the trigger. The most effective places to test a gun for fingerprints are on the magazine and on rounds still located inside the magazine. Planting that evidence takes time, and would be impossible in such an environment with the gun in view of multiple people and on video.

(11,243 posts)Where they falsified hundreds of reports, include several capital cases, to secure convictions? So hard to have much faith in the system.

IMO, it doesn't matter if he did or did not have a gun. The issue is the lack of transparency in the process.

(17,863 posts)feet of the officer in red at 1:22 (gunshots at 1:08). It later gets obscured by the officer in red. If it is a throw down he would have to have done it in 14 seconds.
You kind of see it even at 1:19.
It does not look like it is in the same place in relation to the man who was shot in the photo that appeared earlier.

(3,666 posts)He is bending down and either picking something up or putting something down.
Also, look at 1:21 as the wife approaches. There is another dark object on the ground near the curb. But a few seconds later it is no longer visible. He could be standing over it, but when he moves away from that spot a bit, you still can't see it.
