This looks really bad...

According to witness Kandace Simms--who was sitting in her car waiting for the light to change-- Sterling rode his bike down the left lane next to her, and he suddenly collided with a Metropolitan Police Department cruiser. Simms says the cruiser pulled into the intersection in what appeared to be an attempt to block the motorcycle, and the collision in her opinion was unavoidable. She tells FOX 5 Sterling then revved the engine, and appeared to be trying to find a way to drive off when the window on the passenger side of the marked cruiser rolled down, and the officer in the passenger seat fired two shots. Simms says she heard no commands from the officer, and neither the police car's lights nor the siren were on. Sterling, she says, immediately fell off the bike and she could see blood coming from the area around his helmet

(53,794 posts)Then they put on a show of trying to revive him by pumping his chest
Excuse me, officer, but we can't help but see the rivers of blood flowing on the street coming from his head so your for-show-for-the-witnesses-on-the-street with the too-little-too-late chest compression is not fooling anyone as he's bleeding out from the bullet that you shot into his head.
This happened on the 11th of Sept., before even the Tulsa or Charlotte killing but is just coming out.
God, how many more police murders of black men are still to come out that are being hidden, and how many more are still around the corner just waiting for the next trigger-happy, poorly trained, coward cop to encounter an unlucky black guy doing nothing but, like in this case, involved in a traffic accident?

(6,858 posts)Uh... dude, you are safely in a 3000 lb reinforced car.
He's exposed on a 150 lb bike.
Every motorcycle vs car incident I've seen has always had the car the winner.

Dry Weight .... 145.3 lbs.
It says 45.3, but that is a typo. They forgot the 1 in front.

(10,201 posts)The 300 weighs 379lbs
The lightest streetbike they make (Z125) weighs 224lbs. But it's a way smaller bike than what's in the video.
I ride a small bike every day.

(389 posts)The 45.3lbs is a typo, decimal point is in the wrong place. I own an older version of the motorcycle which weighs around 450lbs as do most sportbikes. There was an accident here a while back where a speeding harley, probably around 700 pounds or more, broadsided a car killing driver. The motorcycle almost went through the car.
In this case, it would have to be a low speed collision, under 10mph, or else the rider would have been thrown off and motorcycle would be disabled. I can't see any reason for the cop to shoot the rider. Unless more details come out in the cops favor, he's probably going to prison.

(6,324 posts)I'll give cops the benefit of a doubt as most here know, but shooting at a bike after breaking department policy and an immediate order not to pursue?
Yeah, he's gonna go to jail unless there is something we don't know here...
