blame the microphone - this may well be the best 'drop-mike' debate moment of all time.
It is never his fault.

(26,275 posts)They are so difficult and obstreperous that dealing with them almost drains you of the will to live so it's easier to agree with them and maintain your sanity. Trying to pin them down on any point is like swatting at a fruit fly with a tennis racquet. I spent over 6 years working with someone whose behavior was so similar to Trump's, watching him gives me PTSD.

(26,275 posts)She was particularly vile, ramping up her bullying behavior, towards me, right about the time I was dealing with losing my sister and mother. I realized how short life really is, and didn't want to waste another instant of it dealing with her psychosis.
Best decision I ever made.
And yea - she's a BIG Trump supporter.

(51,076 posts)I watched the debate in real time and every time he snorted he snorted. It wasn't the mic snorting for him it was him doing it. Maybe my lying eyes are deceiving me but I don't remember when the last time that's happened so I don't hold much hope in that scenario being the case.

(34,845 posts)Whatever is the most stupid excuse you can think of, that will be the one he uses. Same for his debate performance: many pundits were wondering if he might be easily baited and lose control and...he did.
There are few mysteries left regarding Donald Trump. He behaves like you expect. Every time. And that's surprising.

(34,845 posts)We're used to politicians not showing us their true natures, and having to come up with theories to explain their actions. But Trump is so simplistic and so -dare I say it?- honest about his dishonesty, that it isn't easy to see what's right in front of us: Trump is a simple-minded creature. There's so little depth there that you start wondering if you're using the wrong metrics.

(15,882 posts)done and his crown placed. He thinks his pontificating of nonsensical crap means anything to anyone outside of his own reality.
I still think the first thought he had about anything is how much more he can get his brand out there, good or bad, just get it out. This whole presidency thing is beneath him, as he assumes everyone in the entire world is,but it is a handy vehicle.
But now the ridicule is building, to his surprise, and he is lashing out. He has always been able to make some bad used car salesman excuse to everyone before, since their alternative is him being a childish bully. That and the money he borrows gets him a lot, except being anything like a decent human being.
But he forgot that being a bully on a tv screen means we can just turn him off. Not the brightest bulb in the box, clearly.
$14 million sure bought his dad a rotten piece of fruit. (I wonder who worked to pay the money back for him? This creep has never worked.)
I wonder if he will quit or wind up in a sanitarium.

Seeing more footage, especially in the NYC Studio 54 era when coke was available at the special side booths. I'll bet it does exist and would prove the link to his drug use, especially a snort or two just before the event to lighten his load.

(32,822 posts)When a mic goes bad it is really, really evident, especially if you know what to listen for.
Both mics sounded the same and both candidates were at the same level.
I suspect the engineer used a lot of compression on both candidates because Hillary can be a bit shrill and Trump tends to bellow. Trump may have missed his usual big booming sound used at his rallies.

(91 posts)Trump is a classic narcissist. He is never wrong, and all his failings are someone else's fault, not his. It is always another person's fault, or a faulty microphone, a bad question, etc.
I think the only reason that Trump has gotten so far is that there is a sizable part of the population that suffers from anti-social and psychopathological problems. They are attracted to Trump's narcissistic bullying because they themselves are bullies. This is not to criticize good people who suffer from psych troubles. Just to spot the intolerant people.
There are a few books that provide insight into the minds of people like Trump. One is called "The Sociopath Next Door". Another is "Snakes In Suits: When Sociopaths Go To Work". Power and business tends to attract a certain percentage of the narcissists with sociopathic tendencies.
Hopefully the followers of Trump will be outnumbered by the reasonable number of Americans who will oppose him. The man is dangerous, and it is very unnerving that someone like Trump could get this close to the Presidency. Mussolini is a good case study for this sort of "politician".

(112 posts)I almost feel sorry for trump. Because I feel bad for any person with a mental illness. He has such a very serious illness that it is just not laughable. In addition, another problem is if his Foundation issues bring him down legally, then who the heck might they put in in his place? It could be a huge (no pun intended) mess.
Sandersdemocrat2020
(91 posts)My guess is that if Trump got knocked out by some legal issue, then his running mate, Pence, would take his place. It is a good question, though. I am not sure what would happen to a campaign where the candidate got knocked out for whatever reason.
As far as sympathy for Trump goes: I have very little. I reserve most of my sympathy for the people that this sociopathic bully has harmed throughout his life. There are plenty of people with mental illness who are good people. There are just some, like Trump, who are simply assholes (pardon my French), regardless of their mental pathology.
I think if you could magically remove Trump's narcissism, he would still be a jerk. He would just not be the world class jerk that he is due to the magnification of his odious personality by his narcissism.
In any case, Trump must be stopped. I am dismayed that someone like him has gotten this far.
