I don't recall if W was annointed to be president, but seems like every fool the GOP has put up since has some kind of divine cosigner. Hasn't done any of them much good, but this is a new wrinkle that I'm sure will have about as much success.

Here's a sample:

The idea that maybe God will kill the Republican presidential candidate is one of the most tortured rationalizations one will ever hear for casting a vote for Trump. Evangelicals and Republicans of all varieties are contorting themselves into some very strange positions to justify supporting a man who is an insult to all that they claim to believe.

is the passage from Lincoln's Address at Gettysburg, and it asserts that "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

An afterlife is not referenced. Lincoln's focus was on the form of government which was so sacred -- small 's' -- and born of tremendous sacrifice, that reference to that sacrifice is deeply warranted and its blessing perilously present.

"...that these dead shall not have died in vain..."

The evangelicals supporting Trump because they hope God will kill Trump so their holy messenger Pence can reign are repugnant to the idea of liberty. Shame on them.

The very idea of a President Dick Cheney
probably save Bush's skin numerous times.
If the Republican base is salivating for
President Pence, Trump may want to
watch his back.

Pence is too far right .... and appears so (unlike a Kasich who is a right winger but can soften his outward appearance). Unlike cruz ... the right wingers honestly like this guy

conversation with my evangelical-pastor-theocratic fascist brother this morning. It's all about the platform. He would not defend the Orange Menace at all. He was SOOOOOO confident that the Orange Menace will win the election.

I can't believe how nervous I am. I should be getting my ballot in the mail next week. Can't wait to vote. Cheers.

How hypocritical and terrible.

(Though I kind of understand the sentiment. But I'm terrible! Though I'd be happy with him NOT winning the elections and getting pied in the face.)

Somehow it always seems like "believers" are in it only for the retribution against their personal enemies.

The Repubs have no loyalty to Trump and would throw him overboard in a minute through impeachment if he happens to win the election.
