You don't want him to step down. There's the distant chance he'd be replaced by someone more appealing than Hillary.

But more to the point, he honestly thinks he has it in the bag. He thinks that any poll showing him behind is simply wrong. He sincerely thinks that people love him, and that they are all (or at least enough to be the winning number) will vote for him. And that's what he's being told by his minions. No need to break into that delusion.

We want him to stay in the race and lose decisively.
