Bernier: With Wrong Governor, Control Board Could Do Harm to Puerto Rico

The Popular Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate David Bernier said Thursday that the fiscal control board imposed by the United States Congress on Puerto Rico “could do more damage than good if we don’t have the correct governor.”

“I have been emphatic that it could be a platform for helping Puerto Rico resolve its fiscal problems and take its economy forward, but it will be a killer with an inexperienced and fanatical governor.”

Bernier is of the opinion that the fiscal control board and Gov. Alejandro García Padilla must attend to the matters at hand in a diligent and responsible manner, but with the necessary caution because there will be a change of government.

“The decisions that are made must permit relevant and prudent participation by the candidates {for governor},” he said.
