That, my friends, is the hallmark of a bullshit, insincere apology.
It also calls into question the kind of people who were not only not offended by what he said, but had liked what he said.
And apologies are supposed to stand on their own. Pivoting to an attack on Bill and Hillary is nothing more than deflection on his part, and all he's doing is mitigating his own offensive behavior, furthermore attesting to his own insincerity.
He didn't fool anyone who doesn't want to be fooled. If anything, he's toast from here to Election Day.
