On another subject, I have a request for imaging diagnostic centers
and referring physicians:
Freaking call people when you have results! Especially negative results!
Someone I know very well just had an MRI of her brain, to rule out a stroke or tumor as the cause of a minor facial symptom. The MRI was on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a call to the imaging center resulted in being told that the radiologist had read the scan and sent the report to the referring physician.
On Friday, it took several calls to the referring neurologist before the patient was informed that nothing was found and not to worry. The results were known on Wednesday. A call on Thursday went nowhere and no return call was made. On Friday, it took multiple calls to get someone from the neurologist's office to notify the patient.
PEOPLE WHO GET MRI SCANS OF THEIR BRAIN ARE SCARED SHITLESS, FOLKS! Take five minutes and call them if the scan didn't show anything dangerous. Jebus Crutch! Use your brains. If there's good news, pick up the damned phone and tell the patient as soon as you know.
