Why are we surprised at Trump's behavior?
Any woman over 50 (and maybe younger, but I hope not)will remember being subjected to the leering and the belittling and the pawing. Watching the Trump video brought back unpleasant memories for me...the time my statistics professor in grad school told me I would flunk his exam unless I spent the weekend with him for some "tutoring." The time my colleague at a law firm was pawed by a partner, turned him in and was let go. These are only a few instances of what most women have endured over the years. But I must report that KARMA is alive and well... I reported that professor to the dean (this was back in the '70s and I was scared shitless) and the dean told me that I was the 3rd woman to file a complaint...the prof was canned. And my colleague watched as the oily little man who pawed her was eventually drummed out of the law firm for padding his bills.
BTW, the term "skin crawling" really applies to what a woman feels when these things happen to her. I felt it again this morning.

(9,267 posts)Never told anyone til recently. It was the 70's. My fault for wearing a tight sweater.
He divorced his wife and married a woman in my class (did it start the same way?) and had a long and highly respected career at a major university. It never occurred to me to report him...it was the 70's.

(13,893 posts)because my degree was at stake but I literally brain dumped it for years and only revived the memory while watching the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings...then it came flooding back.

(34,398 posts)I lasted 3 days. I could handle the vile remarks, I couldn't handle the pawing, groping, grabbing, and the entitlement those fuckers had, thinking that just because I was a young, attractive female serving them drinks, it gave them the right to violate me. It still makes me want to take a shower, even 35 years later.
