This is more tension-filled than Watergate was...

those of us who were around in those days recall the drip drip drip and then the sudden WHAM!!! of the big disclosure whether it was the existence of the taping system or the Saturday night Massacre or the trip over to the WH by Goldwater, Scott, and one or two other Senators to tell Nixon he was done.

But this...THIS! is beyond all that...this miscreant lowlife who was blowing little people out of the water with his threats, bravado and bluster finally entered the big leagues and as with everyone who gets involved at that level, he has found out that he is quite vulnerable and going down like the Titanic or the Lusitania.

What I don't get is how the Republicans didn't go after him: I'm certain their oppo research knew all this stuff and they gave him an almost-free pass. Bush, Cruz, Kasich, Pataki, are all old pros and should have stopped this guy in his tracks. But the media was allowed to give him a free ride, and with his 100% name recognition and his penchant for lying through his teeth and his insults, he bullied his way to the top, just to find, as though he were the lead character in a Shakespeare play, that he has far to fall. And quickly at that.

I think that the powers that be decided enough is enough and went after him full-bore. I'm certain we haven't seen the end of this play whose ending may take place in the Castle Keep with an angry soliloquy playing at the end of this four-year drama.

the RNC is a private organization. They can make rules. They can have their own moderator.

When Trump gave a defensive answer to Megyn Kelly's first question about calling women pigs.......

You're fired, exit the stage. We will not support a disqualified candidate.

Run on your own if you want, but RNC candidacy is over. Period.

Nixon was President of the United States. I was an avid follower of the Watergate debacle as it unfolded, and we forget how many people Nixon and his henchmen damaged or destroyed with their "dirty tricks." This current creep's misdeeds are widely publicized, now. They are horrific and disgusting. But he hasn't yet been, and I pray will never be, in a position to subvert the Constitution. Nixon was a mean, mean man. He tried to steal the election from somebody who could never have beaten him, anyway. That's what was at the root of Watergate. Nixon was guilty of crimes against his nation. His admission of guilt was legally a part of his acceptance of Ford's pardon. The current creep's misdeeds and possible crimes are many; we may never know the depth of either man's guilt. But Nixon was in a position to take down the democracy, and he tried to do it.

he purposely prolonged a hopelessly misguided war for four years, at the cost of tens of thousands of Americans killed and maimed, and hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Vietnamese, announcing the end of American involvement just in time to win re-election.

He also gave a green light to the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Chile, resulting in years of savage repression, torture, and executions.

I could go on...

I have no doubt a President Trump would have been just as bad, if not worse, which is why the thought of his election terrified me so.

Hopefully this creep was exposed in time.

With Nixon, unfortunately, the nation and world were not so lucky.

The import of the two stories. What I was saying is the rapidity of his downfall is s remarkable chronicle.

I just take every opportunity I can to tell whomever I can what a catastrophe Nixon was. As Hunter Thompson used to say, the man was so crooked he had to screw his pants on every morning.

Yeah, the twists and turns of this campaign have been stunning. I will be so relieved when Hillary wins this by a landslide.

Best wishes.
