The WaPo & the NYT are supposed to have some of the best journalists in the US. Let alone some of the TV & cable companies. If Billy Bush knew this why didn't he tell NBC honchos? The 4th estate failed this country.

(44,973 posts)NBC had these tapes all alone. This tape was sitting on the shelf somewhere.

(7,911 posts)The GrOPe would have had time to pick a better candidate. We're fortunate that it stayed hidden long enough for the GrOPe to truly paint themselves into a corner with no way out.

(44,127 posts)That just isn't possible. Somebody had to leak this from inside.
I suspect Access Hollywood leaked it.
They stated they have been going thru their archives of Trump interviews. I believe they said it was something like 20+ years of footage. They didn't say they leaked the video. But I suspect they did.
See my post #10 re why access Hollywood decided to go through archive:

I saw this absurd conspiracy theory floated on JPR just a bit ago. That this "proves" the evil WAPO is in the pocket of War Whore H Clinton, rape enabler.. Honestly, fuck that noise.
Let's not go there.

(38,000 posts)David Farenthold of the Washington Post is the investigative journalist that reported the tape and broke the story.

(23,545 posts)him the tape. The source trusted him. He contacted NBC and access hollywood to verify that it was real. They verified it.
I don't know why the tv people didn't release it. Might be the feeling that some people are above the law. I don't know. They said they were going to release it in the future. I don't believe them.
So Farenhold indirectly got the job done because he is such an amazing journalist that someone put this in his lap.

(38,000 posts)He's uncovered/reported on the numerous shady doings of the Cheeto Jesus foundation. He's the one that broke the story about the Orange Man using foundation money to buy a crappy portrait and the fact that the man hasn't given a dime of his own to charity in a decade.
David Farenthold of the Washington Post, Kurt Eichenwald of Newsweek and Susanne Craig of the New York Times have all done amazing work exposing the GOP nominee.

Sounds like Access Hollywood just found it in this past week, themselves

"Access Hollywood" began digging into its archives for videos of Donald Trump earlier this week.
The impetus was an Associated Press story, the show's host Natalie Morales said on Friday evening, where former staff members of the show "The Apprentice" described Trump's behavior toward women, calling them "lewd" and "inappropriate."
Morales said that in the course of their reporting, "Access Hollywood" staffers looked back at the many interviews they've had with Trump and discovered the footage of Trump with then-host Billy Bush chatting on a bus about women and using vulgar language.

(4,460 posts)She was shuttled off the Today Show to become their west coast correspondent and cohost of Access Hollywood, and Billy Bush essentially replaced her on Today. Monday morning is going to be real interesting.

(1,242 posts)over to Washington Post . NBC claims they were working on a story for next week with this .
"If youve been wondering how the leaked audio of Donald Trump saying that famous men basically have a license to grab by the p*ssy got to the Washington Post, CNN Money has the answer.
Brian Stelter, host of CNNs Reliable Sources, revealed that NBC and Access Hollywood were planning to run a segment on the found footage, only to be contacted by WaPos David Fahrenthold today for comment on the story he was doing on it.
He released his at about 4:00 p.m., causing NBC to quickly run follow-ups.
Access Hollywoods executive producer Rob Silverstein told Page Six he is the last person in the world who would have leaked the tape and he has no idea who did it. It had to have been someone inside NBC, since it sat on a shelf there for 11 years and was being worked into a story for them all week, but it wasnt Silverstein."

So question is were they working on story or sitting on it until someone leaked out ?
Also ran across article last night Billy Bush deleted twitter account ...

(5,662 posts)Isn't that the supposed benefit of a bloody 2 year long primary season? To allow them to properly vet their own candidate?
No sympathy for the GOP on the timing of this.
