I have followed politics for 35 years and have never seen anything like this

Yes, the last year+ of Trump has been a trainwreck to behold. But this latest bombshell has been shocking to watch the total meltdown of all the Republicans

Last night when I first heard the tape, yes it was shocking. But right after the first 'holy shit' moment I immediately thought.. well, you knew something like that was coming, the guy really is a disgusting pig AND an idiot who thinks he 'has a big brain'

But it seems like the republicans, ALL of them, have been caught completely off guard by this.

I'm seeing reports that behind the scene Republican senators and house members are in full blown panic mode.

How could the GOP possibly NOT have seen this coming?

One of my problems with the Democrats over the past couple of decades was that the Republicans are so much better at staying together and 'on message'. That requires planning ahead.

So again, how the hell could the GOP not see this coming with Trump??

I would bet that there is plenty more dirt on Trump out there

This is a gift, not just for Hillary but the entire Democratic party.

Every Democrat running for any office should pin Trump to their opponent like an albatross around their neck.

Trump is the Republican top nominee, we should make every single GOP candidate own him!

Watergate was reasonably connected with a paranoid man's pursuit of power.

This, this, is... I don't know what this is... this is Charley Manson for president.

Honestly, the little reality TV I have seen consisted of backstabbing and pure selfishness. Trump is FAR worse than any of it.

of his attitude toward women, and he knew the mic was on in that situation. None of this should be a surprise.

And while its shocking to hear it from the pigs mouth, it can't be a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention.

I think when they calmed him down (a little) after his post convention meltdown the GOP thought they could hold their breath and Trump would make it to Nov 8 without completely blowing up the party.

That was a longshot, and they lost

The surprising part to me is they apparently never made any 'plan b' for the most likely scenario

Oh well, sucks to be them!

The republican party should have known sooner since he has been a media subject numerous times over the past few decades.

One thing bugging me is why in the hell it took him being a candidate for someone to be outraged about it. Several people behind the scenes must have seen it.

I was visiting family and hadn't looked at the news since the morning. I picked up my phone while everyone else was talking and as usual, before I ever hit the Huffington Post app I think, "What fresh hell...?", but this was on a whole other level. I couldn't believe the headline and told my sister to check it out.

This had my sister reminding me of how she was assaulted by her boss years ago. She was a temp worker and he called her into his office, then grabbed her and kissed her. She was stunned and told the temp agency who immediately pulled her from the job and dropped his contract. This was in the 1980's and that is exactly how you deal with a creep who thinks he can do anything to women because of his position. What the hell has happened? We've seemed to have gone down the toilet thanks to the GOP and their Trump.

(well, he did but they edited it out). Since that was the case, they thought he belonged on that pedestal they put him on.

I guess the joke's on them for a change. Yes, they are deeply shocked. No, he's not going to recover completely from this.

I think thats a big part of the GOP panic.

Even with a huge wave pretty much no way of getting the house. But we can shave the margin to weather our low turnout in the coming off year cycle

Taking the Senate at least gives us control over cabinet appointments and judges

But that will never happen without real filibuster reform

If we take the Senate it won't take long to find out if Schumer is going to screw the Dems and become the new Joe Lieberman

not all, but enough of them. They are adept at hiding their true natures from the public except on the occasions when one of them is caught in flagrante delicto with their latest extramarital boy toys or some hot chick. Then we get a glimpse of their true selves. Of course they knew what Trump was like, they just expected him to be more discrete about his crudeness and keep his lewd behaviors quiet... like they do.

Its the old boys club rules, with enough wealth and power, men can, and do, get away with anything.

would get MINIMAL media exposure. I think that they were really taken by surprise, not by what Trump said or that it was on tape, but that the coverage was not just below the fold on page B9 of the Washington Post and 3 minutes on MSNBC.

Only that a recording was made public. CNN has been looking through old interviews with Howard Stern. Trump has been in the race a year, and they only now think he might have said something objectionable on the public airways? The GOP and the media are responsible for Trump. Neither vetted him.

More recordings are coming. A producer of the Appretice said the tape with Billy Bush is tame compared to what they recorded Trump saying.
