What A National Nightmare We Are In. Even If Hillary Wins It Will Not Be Over.

I am not sure the election and Hillary victory will end it. Trump jumpers and their viciousness and hatred will not subside. I expect it to be worse. We are in for a generational war.

1. I just wonder how the dividing lines will be drawn.

Will it be young versus old?
Men versus women?
Cities versus rural?
Educated versus not so much?

Or all of the above, in equal measure?

14. It will be the propagandized versus everyone else.

When my gentle, thoughtful, blue-collar, labor-union brother-in-law came for his annual visit this past summer, we were horrified at the change in him since last we'd seen him.

He was boiling over with rage and hatred for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, whom he declared to be genuinely "evil", through and through. He spouted the complete litany of Fox/Limbaugh talking points. I was able to easily debunk them all, but it didn't seem to matter to him. "I don't have your memory and your encyclopedic knowledge, Ed," he told me, "but dammit, I know what I know."

And what did he "know"? That Barack Obama was a Muslim sympathizer who wants the terrorists to win. That Hillary Clinton lied and lied and lied about her emails, and that when a desperate Ambassador Stevens had called her from Benghazi to beg for help, she'd essentially hung up in his ear. That the FBI really wants to indict her over her email server, but they don't dare. That the Republican-led Congressional investigating committees have found enough proof of crimes to put her away for life, but they, too, are afraid to act. That we're in a desperate struggle for survival against the Muslims, and every mosque on the face of the earth must be leveled if we're to have any hope of surviving. And on and on.

It's not a matter of politics, or views on policy. "Don't get me wrong", he reassured me, "I still think Paul Wellstone's the best there's ever been." That, I realized sadly, is because the propagandists who've brought him under their spell have not been directing his anger against the long-deceased Wellstone.

This is the power of propaganda. It brought home to me an important truth: that there's a crucial difference between propagandists and ordinary liars. A liar merely lies, but propagandists skillfully manipulate the emotions of the people they target.

Everyone has inner, unfocused anger that can be tapped into: you, me, my brother-in-law. I could see that the propagandists who have captured his attention have skillfully stoked his inner anger until it's glowing white-hot, and then focused it on the targets of their choice. And, most of all, they've tapped into his survival instinct. It's the strongest, deepest, most primal emotion we have. If the propagandists can make a person feel that his very survival is threatened, and harness his aroused survival instinct, and then he'll work like a madman (literally) to do their bidding and save himself.

And that's who we'll be facing in this awful national divide. For the most part, I think it will not be people who are innately deplorable (to borrow the term), but instead will be ordinary people like my brother-in-law who've been driven into a state of fear and fury by right-wing propaganda.

What with Trump saying if he doesn't win, that proves the elections are rigged, and how he's been inciting his followers to do something about it.

Now a lot of his followers are probably like this one white supremacist group that are essentially fat bubbas... drinking in the woods, shooting the empty cans, and dreaming of a coming race war that they can jump on the tail end of after the danger has subsided, but he has a big enough following that some of them are going to do something.

But other than that, the hatred the right has had for Obama the last 8 years is going to be transferred over to Hillary. They think they have actual reasons to hate her (from all the BS the right-wing media have pumped out), and then a lot of them will hate her just because she's a woman, just like hating Obama just because he's Black.

There was a documentary of the 2008 election done by Nancy Pelosi's daughter that showed a NASCAR bubba actually crying because a Black man was becoming president because that meant there was literally nothing just left for the White man. That's the mentality we're facing.

6. What you are witnessing is the splitting of a major political party.

God only knows what will be the results of it.

I do believe there will be a core of about 30 percent left that will be ultra right wing, white nationalist. Much like the Nazi Party of Old Germany. But that garbage won't fly in a multiracial country like the USA.

She wouldn't dismiss the left out of hand. Sanders efforts got some planks added to the Party Platform, so a President Clinton would be beholden to their legislative advocacy (I would think).
That makes it hard(er) for her to ignore those things for the sake of cutting deals with the opposition party.
Right?

Trump will leave the world stage with his tail between his legs. He will be tied up in court and watching over the decline of his empire. The MSM will cover this.

GOPers left standing will rush to lead the party mainly seeking to get rid of the Trump stench. The deplorables will be crestfallen.

Everybody is going to play nice.
