If the GOPee were to split, what percentage would go with Donnie and what percentage would stay with the "sober" leadership?
I'm thinking the thirty years of Roger Ailes/Breitbart/Hannity/Rush/Coulter has created a warm and comfy home for these people. I'm thinking there are quite likely fewer "sober" GOPers than nut jobs.

(42,641 posts)No matter if they believe his nonsense, or are supporting him for political reasons, they are deplorable.
Anyone who is still a Republican at this stage has degenerated into negativity, anti-Americanism, and moral decay past the point of salvation.

An additional 15% hold some rather demented beliefs, but are generally decent.

They can get the numbers. Who will the big donors back? Has he turned the riff raff on the party heads? How will the money bags react when their 25 year plan to ruin Hillary fails?

(599 posts)are deplorable, IMO. They might not be rabid Drumpf fans, but I'd say most hold racist, sexist, homophobic and/or xenophobic views. And I'd say most Republican voters are anti-Muslim, anti-Arab and anti-Jew to some degree. Also I'd say most GOP supporters hate (or at least dislike) the poor, whom they see as lazy moochers.

(111,098 posts)and if half of those are "deplorables", that means about 1 out of every 5 Americans, at a minimum, is a "deplorable".

(111,267 posts)Reagan pulled them back in for a little while (the so-called "Reagan Democrats" but they'd started to drift away again thanks to scandals like Iran Contra. Daddy Bush got rid of a few thanks to his economic bungling and raising the taxes he swore he'd never raise. Stupid chased a lot of them off.
That left a hard core that's about 35% of the electorate, some of them legacy Republicans and the rest looking for permission to be assholes. I'd say a good 70% of them are in the latter category.
