Group of Chibok schoolgirls are released from captivity
http://www.brethren.org/news/2016/group-of-chibok-schoolgirls-released.html
Church of the Brethren staff have received confirmation of this news from Ekklesiyar Yanuwa a Nigeria (EYN, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria). EYN president Joel S. Billi sent confirmation after he talked with Chibok parents and the Bring Back Our Girls organization in Nigeria. The majority of the girls abducted from the school in Chibok are from Nigerian Brethren families.
A list of the girls' names is at the link. At the specific request of EYN, our congregation has been in prayer for Ruth Amos, whose name is not on this list.

(13,498 posts)my thoughts go to them and their families.
And i'm happy for the girls who are finally going home. I can't imagine the pain and horror and trauma they will have to live with for the rest of their lives, but they are going home. They can try to rebuild their lives.

(82,849 posts)The Church of the Brethren in Nigeria is actually larger than it is in the U.S. It's tough for Americans to do, but our Nigerian brothers and sisters have asked us for our prayers, not our intervention. Americans like taking action. Your good thoughts and prayers are what they have asked of us as they move forward. Thanks.
