I am scared

Yes, Trump will lose. He and his supporters will claim that it was a "rigged" elections and with all the guns in the hands of these lunatics - we may see serious riots and "home grown" terrorism.

I hope that I will be wrong. But I hope that all the governors are ready with the national guards. And that the national guards will obey orders.

(Funny, I happened to see Trump after his win in N. Carolina, I think. By then he secured the nomination. And he was there even though he did not have to campaign. But he said that he was saying that the elections were rigged but "now" that he won, he no longer thought so.)

but enough of his supporters have been keeping up with polls and the like to realize the game wasn't rigged, he's just the crybaby sore loser we always said he was.

There are some out there who are truly unhinged and they're going to make the corner bar an unpleasant place to hang out. A few will start shooting friends, family and neighbors. Very few will try to organize anything worse than drunken "militias" like we have now. Most of them will be sodden and loudly bitter.

Fri Oct 14, 2016, 12:32 AM
Oct 2016

The concern you're writing about is one of the main reasons we need to implement strict gun control measures.

We just need to the courage to take on the NRA and defeat the gun nuts once and for all. I've had pushback from fellow Democrats on the issue, as though they're scared of even thinking it. We need to ban all full and semi automatic firearms and keep pushing until we finally get rid of these instruments of death.

If your rifle is more important than the safety of our Nation and even our nominee then maybe you should find a new home.

It is ludicrous to expect our Party and our Nation to be accept being held hostage by gun owners.

I'm not ashamed to say if I could I'd take the 2A out of the Constitution and I don't care if you donate to the NRA.

Why are guns so important to you people? If Hillary came out and said she's going to ban guns would you vote for Trump over one single issue?

If you don't understand why protecting a civil liberty is important, I won't bother explaining.

I could never vote for Trump, but an explicit desire to undo the 2nd Amendment would be a deal breaker for me.

The country will be fine. These fears of mass insurrection over a failed Trump candidacy are overblown.

I'm far more worried about Gun Nuts shooting people they think are trying to take their rights. Everyday we hear more stories about people being afraid to make their support for Hillary public because the standing threat of Gun Nuts to kill people that disagree with them, especially when they lose.

You can't explain why you "need" a gun, that's why you won't bother trying.

The right for people like me to own keep and bear arms is defined by the necessity of maintaining the security of a free state.

I would argue that we've already been through this, when W's gangsters stole the election, dove out of the way of terrorist attacks, lied to start a war, and stole a second election.

And what did they do with their unlimited power? They crashed the economy twice and fucked up the country so bad that after eight years they gave it back to the adults because they were losing money on their own policies and didn't know how to fix things. Why? Because George W. Bush is stupid, incompetent, lazy and rich. Fucking up America didn't interest him anymore after he realized that everyone hates him.

Donald Trump is already on the other side of that. He already has limitless wealth, or can pretend he does, and now he can buy an unlimited number of sycophants, women, and fake friends. He suckered the GOP into giving him the startup funds and organizational staff he needs to start a television network, which he can build, as usual, as an altar of sacrifice to himself. But this election is going to spell out exactly what was spelled out to W a the end of his disastrous tenure: everyone hates him, except for those who worship him.

Donald Trump has already "won." He'll be grouchy for a couple of weeks and when the coke hangover wears off, he'll go back to being a self-important grifter, bigger and more stupendous than ever.

and we do not believe in solving problems by armed unrest. Though we've had our share during the riots in Chicago in 1968.

Also, ever since Obama won in 2008 the number of guns purchase soared, especially by those who believe that their guns would be taken away. Also the number of states allowing public, or even concealed, carrying of guns soared; is there any state that forbids this these days?

We have seen many of these teabaggers coming to rallies with Obama publicly carrying their guns. I suppose many showed up at Trump rallies, too.

And... the "good old" social media that acts to spread misinformation and inflame resentments and hate.

I hope to be wrong. But I am scared.

But if you want to feel a little better, look to those morons on the Pacific Coast who tried to start their little revolution last winter.

It didn't go anywhere and it didn't gain any momentum because conservatives are, by their very nature, far more frightened of the world and of the future than you will ever be.

They have to believe that they are a repressed majority before they will start another Civil War--and recall that in slaveholding states with even a vocal opposition (Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky), they were (rightly) afraid to secede.

This election is going to shitcan the myth that they are a majority in one hell of a hurry, and they'll go back to stockpiling ammunition at 400% of its actual value, and complaining about how Democrats are fucking everything up while their lives steadily improve from the Bush years.

The military? Not so much, BUT they're limited in what they can do within the borders of the US. But if you're looking for the cops to save you from Trump, you're looking in the wrong direction. If the shit REALLY hits the fan, it's going to be up to us, not the cops.

However, I'm not particularly concerned. I don't think that they're organized enough to carry out mass operations. And they WILL be opposed. Unlike Germany, Classic Reds and oppressed people of color won't let it happen here without a fight.
