Christie proposes new job for ex-aide who replaced Bridgegate defendant

TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie has formally nominated for a state Superior Court judge position a former aide who replaced indicted Port Authority Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni in the midst of the Bridgegate scandal.

Christie on Friday announced the nomination of Deborah Gramiccioni, who once served as an assistant U.S. attorney in New Jersey's public corruption unit under Christie and has been named to state government positions by both Christie and former Gov. Jon Corzine.

Gramiccioni testified earlier this week in the federal trial on the George Washington lane closures, saying she'd found out about them from a news report on the radio.
