But I see you've put a lot of thought into this.

(26,060 posts)is a fucking crime. When he steals yours, I hope you don't expect any sympathy whatsoever. Does that clear things up for you?
Wilms
(26,795 posts)So is spying on Americans. So the NSA can steal my info, and that seems to be OK with you, but if wikileaks exposes that they run afoul of LeftyNYC.
OK. I got that.
I'm an American, first. I don't support whistleblowers depending on which party is being exposed for being up to no good. Can you handle that??
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)Just because the NSA fucks up doesn't make it okay for some schmuck with internet access to STEAL and decide what information should be public. Nobody voted for Jullian Assange. I'm able to carry those two thoughts in my head at the same time. That you can't isn't my problem in the slightest. Stealing a private citizen's email - like he did with Podesta - proved what a slug he is. As if being an alleged rapist wasn't enough to prove that.
Wilms
(26,795 posts)Did you see the pedophile charge that got floated on Kos? Did you see the follow-up report??
Probably not. We don't post stuff that might be considered hurtful to those who run the Democratic Party.
Nobody voted for Podesta, BTW.

(53,778 posts)and releasing it to the public.
And if he's so honorable to you, why doesn't he release Trump's email too?
He's obviously trying to steer the election to Trump by only releasing Clinton's emails.
That's not honorable. He should've stuck with war crimes instead of trying to even a grudge against Hillary. And on top of that he's working with the Russians, helping Trump's friend Putin to influence our election outcome.
He's turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Wilms
(26,795 posts)Does wikileaks have Trumps email? But I' wouldn't be interested in that because I'm not interested in HIS yoga schedule.
Now if they had stuff from the RNC showing that they were favoring, say, one candidate or the other...that would be in the public interest.
I don't assume that "He's obviously trying to steer the election to Trump by only releasing Clinton's emails."
That, to me, is a really big stretch. So is the idea that the Russian's are helping him. The NSA saying so means squat to me...and it would have meant squat to you, I suspect, if there was a repub in office.
brush
(53,778 posts)intelligence agencies have concluded that the Russians are behind Wikileaks' email dump of Clinton campaign emails.
Did you forget that so soon?

(53,778 posts)One would assume posters on this site at this stage of the election would be for the Dem candidate but that's not coming through.
What is your position?
A formerly great tradition on DU.
The election is over. Where have you been? TRUMP is running. Did you see the Brietbart poll?
brush
(53,778 posts)What's not obvious is what you're trying to say.
"Where have you been? TRUMP is running. Did you see the Brietbart poll?"
What does that mean. Be clear.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)STEAL somebody's email and decide on his own what gets released? Let Assange - that fucking coward - face the rape charges and clear himself. No - he'd rather hide out and snipe from the sidelines about OUR elections. Fuck him. He's scum.
Wilms
(26,795 posts)Seriously.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)seems to be completely out of sorts about not everyone agreeing with your absurd position that assange is some kind of hero. The stamping of your feet is quite amusing. Are you going to hold your breath next?
I'll just go straight to boo-hooing.

(111,097 posts)Exposing the NSA spying is different from exposing information for the benefit of one political Party over the other, it would seem?
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)to do on this thread. Try and convince everyone else what a hero that pig is because the only one defending him here is you.
Wilms
(26,795 posts)That would be spineless, for one.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)Like a fucking high schooler. I never told you to get in line - I said you had some work to do to convince DUers that your hero isn't a scumbag. Sorry I gave you the impression I give a crap what you do because I couldn't possibly care less.
Wilms
(26,795 posts)Plenty of DUers are already convinced. Many may figure that he did us a great service. Is what the DNC was up to in service of our party?? Of course not. So they got busted and it happened when it WON'T effect the election...because Trump is going nowhere.
leftynyc
(26,060 posts)Seems you have a teeny minority opinion that the slug is a hero.

(13,340 posts)He's a narcissist. He will reveal whatever it is he thinks will feed his ego. He has grudge against Clinton, and is now selectively trying to influence the election. Fuck him.
I won't say he didn;t reveal some stuff that needed revealing, but his dumbfuckery and efforts to help Trump have overwhelmed the good he did.

Wilms
(26,795 posts)And I also got it that that is a 'narrative'.
Yesterday's 'narrative', that he's a child molester, fell on it's face.

So tell me all about "whistleblowers" and "narcissists" "revealing whatever it is" someone "thinks will feed" their "ego". Tell me all about "grudges". Tell me all about Donna "selectively trying to influence the election".
Talk about "dumbfuckery".

(34,845 posts)A computer forensics expert testified on Wednesday that confessed WikiLeaks source Bradley Manning said in a 2010 email exchange that he had approved edits to video of a U.S. Army helicopter attack in Iraq that killed two Reuters journalists.
That so-called Collateral Murder video was perhaps the most explosive document among the 700,000 that Manning sent to WikiLeaks. The organizations founder, Julian Assange, was criticized for releasing it initially in an edited and shortened form in 2010.

Not sure what Brazille has to do with this.

WikiLeaks is at best incompetent in releasing things like John Podesta's password and at worst criminal assholes. None of them have put their own passwords up online.

He has used triple parenthesis so apparent anti-semantic. That to me is toward the foe side again of any kind of decency.
With the dead man switches posted from wikileaks he and those associated with him apparently are using to blackmail countries. Again not someone who actually has a moral standing.
Just the fact of holding back different information (see above) he is not some kind of freedom of information advocate. Since he apparently also had been sitting on information about Ecuador and the U.K. F.C.O.. You have to wonder what else he is holding back for his own personal agenda.
Apparently withholding any information from the rnc while leaking dnc only would show he has a agenda. And that appears to be the case here. Trying to influence the vote for one party to me would make him a foe of American elections.

Digging through the crap filled closets of the internet and posting what you find there on your website, with a lot of PGP mumble magic and sleights of hand, that isn't rocket science, and it doesn't make you any kind of hero.
Assange was building a celebrity "product" of himself (he has a lot in common with Trump that way...) and he got tripped up by his own fat ego.
I'm not sure why the Ecuadorian embassy staff haven't put roofies in his drink, stuffed him into a diplomatic mail pouch, maybe with a few hundred quid cash because nobody wants to be a monster, and thrown him out of a nondescript white van onto the side of a road in some nation with very confusing extradition laws.
Assange is not exactly a credible witness about anything at this point. Even if he's got the goods on a few people nobody is going to believe him. This boy has called wolf too many times.

(12,657 posts)Wrong most of the times, right a lot of times. We loved him when his organization exposed the open secrets of the Bush Administration and contractors in Iraq. Not so much when his organization hacks into personal data of people who have an expectation of privacy so that they can be smeared with scandals.
Look at his actual actions to see his motives. Who is his organization targeting and for what purpose? What can be expected to be the outcome for his targets by exposing their "secrets"?
IMO, He's an ideologue who sees himself as being able to profit off being a "hero of the people". Sort of like a Cyber Al Capone; instead of actually looking for finding what is behind so much of the misery in the world, he and his compatriots go around looking to find political "enemies" to throw under the bus of world opinion by exposing anything that can be hacked and seeing what sticks.
It's really easy to pick up something that is already fairly easily available with a minimum of searching on the 'net and scream "look here what I found". It's also easy to just grab and dump data without curating it to see if you're actually exposing a scandal, or putting relatively innocent low-level people's identities and potentially lives in danger. Like the recent Wikileaks Turkish data dump, exposing hundreds of thousand of civilians to the threat of political arrest and potentially death for activity that had previously been legal under a more secular leader.
The appearance of shaking up the system and thumbing one's nose at "the man" without digging into the files of certain people/organizations who are actually profiting off a targeted situation is an easy way of being attractive to a lot of people who are unhappy with being on the bottom, without being responsible for actually working to make their lives better.
From what I've seen, there is very little Wikileaks has exposed over the years had not already been discussed and disparaged on forums and at sites that were interested in those subjects.
