Wallace asked him, "Will you accept outcome of election."..seems simple enough..and

Trump answered as he did....Wallace did his job, and he did it well... ...

such a simple question, but he asked it. That was "the" question. No matter what else, Wallace asked it, and Trump answered it in a way that everyone understands in front of the entire country..

Wallace knew the importance of that question. And what it meant to this country..
So he wanted to make sure that Trump was absolutely sure of his answer...
and Trump was..and he faces the consequences..

like on a TV show to get people to stay tuned for the next episode. That really was his defense of Trump saying that he might not accept the outcome of the election - that Trump was treating the election like a TV show.
