What I learned: I just spent three days with my adult kids on a road trip.

I have a daughter, 32, and a son, 24. Different moms, same dad (me).

They're nice to me and indulge me when I tell old stories. Three days straight on the road. They are close, too.

It might not seem like such a big deal at first. But, I am getting older and my only sibling died recently, and my wife is very understanding so we made a roadie just for the hell of it. What do you learn?

I learned how good they are and how much they care. Reliving old stuff and having fun for the sake of having fun. Having roadside food and having them drive for you.

Because, they can. And, you taught them how.

I am the luckiest man in the world.

In a big way.

These kids of mine have it figured out.

They are so wired in.

And now you want to be with them, and they want to be with you. What more could a family want?

...I will very respectfully disagree on one point. I think that you're the 2nd luckiest man in the world. With the great kid that my wife and I have, I think that I am the luckiest man in the world!

I could accept a tie though!

PEACE!

I have a son and a daughter, and somewhere around 25 nieces and nephews in the age range of around 16-30. They have at least one gillion friends between them all. I think they are so much fun to hang around. They are so smart, and funny, and very patient and welcoming to their older (me) friends.

Congratulations, dad!

Taking our first couples only trip with my 33 yr old daughter & son n law and husband at my time share in kauai.

We have laughed so hard I peed my pants...danced together at a reggae concert (fathers day) grumbled while tired...screeched at the large bug in the condo....hugged, swam with the fishies and much more....

We went through rough time while she was a teen and now we are close...she went through a religous phase and voted twice for Bush but then put a sign out last time for Obama and they are dems now....

mine are younger - 9 and 5. I try to get them to walk the dogs with me occasionally too. There's no one else around so they'll talk to me. We talk about school, their favorite toys, what's new on their latest video games - anything to keep those lines of communication open. I'm glad you had a good time

Our daughters are 11 and 12. As time passes, I hope to have your situation--where your kids
are close with each other and so is the family.

You are a good dad and I am glad that you have this good fortune and love in your life.

There is nothing more important!
